When it comes to late night entertainment in Australia, no city does it quiet like Melbourne. Unfortunately, the city is always compared to Sydney and for some time it was always seen as the down-to-earth sister of the spectacular and flashy Sydney. However, Melbourne has grown, it has morphed into this wonderful city that never sleeps. A night on the town doesn't have to end with last call at 2am. There are actually few bars and night clubs that do call last call. You can stumble your way from one spot to the next until the sun comes up.

Melbournians party hard. They will go out in any kind of weather, hot or cold just to grasp that zest of energy that crackles around the city. It's palpable, it's exciting and dangerous in a life-affirming sort of way.

The Melbourne bar and night club scene one multidimensional maze of hidden rooftops, dark alleys that lead to flashy doorways, split-level clubs, topless dancing babes and hidden rooftops frequented by some interesting and colourful characters. You may need a guide to find some of the hidden gems like Lustre, Goldilocks or Sister Bella.

The Melbourne CBD isn't all about business, it also happens to be the axis of Melbourne's entertainment scene. There are bars and clubs and interesting places of entertainment on roof tops and basements. Some venues are so low key, you may need a guide to get you there. These re low-key, back alley paces usually typify sayings like a what stays in Vegas or in the case in Melbourne after dark, stays in Melbourne . There is a night club for every kind of person.

Federation Square just in front of Flinders Street is a great starting point. What lies behind is a maze of laneways and alleys that are just vibrant coffee shops, art shops and even bars but at night a certain kind of magic settles on the area and transforms it to party-central.

On the north-eastern side of Melbourne where the popular districts of Fitzroy and Collingwood are located you can find a number of bohemian restaurants that attract all sorts of people. The streets are lined with bars full of character and serve some of the best local craft beer along with some indie rock.

South bank and South Wharf located a couple of steps from the CBD offers its host of options. Again, plenty of booze served to your liking. There are a couple of trendy spots that attract some world-renowned DJ who paly at some of these clubs.

South Melbourne which incorporates the suburbs of South Yarra and Prahran, form the busiest area in Melbourne. Chapel street in particular, has a variety of bars and clubs ranging from the grungy to the glamorous atmosphere.

Melbournians can turn any event into a party. They have this insane ability to hang lose without even trying. So, you might stumble on an epic party for a bloke you don’t really know and no one will look at you strangely. Just go with the flow, it could turn out to be your best day ever.
