During your pregnancy, you may have to face several irritating challenges or problems that are not dangerous, but you may need awareness. Cramps, sore throat, heartburn and indigestion, back pain, headache, constipation, swollen feet and hands, vomiting and severe nausea, bleeding, and urinary incontinence are major challenges for pregnant women.

Always consult your health-care provider or midwife if you’ve severe problems during your pregnancy period. Some simple changes may relieve your symptoms with the concern of your doctor. There are some pregnancy challenges you might face:

Cramps

Cramp is a sudden, severe pain, mostly in your calf muscles, feet or legs during the pregnancy and mostly happen at night. If you suffer a cramp, then straighten your legs and try to pull toes back towards your knees. It will give you relief from pain and stretch your calf muscles. Now you can massage the muscle or put the hot water bottle to get rid of the pain.

You may keep away calf muscle cramps at night by straightening muscles before you go to sleep.

Sore Throat while Pregnant

Dust allergies and other infections can easily cause irritation or swelling in your throat. Mothers may experience a sore throat while pregnant. Although there is no link between strep throat and pregnancy; unfortunately there is a possibility of strep throat during your pregnancy. Strep throat means bacterial disease in the tonsils and the throat. The gullet gets irritated and inflamed, causing a severe sore throat.

Sore throat doesn’t mean you have a strep throat. If you suffer from a sore throat with high fever, you should make an appointment to see your health-care provider.

Heartburn and Indigestion

Heartburn and indigestion are the major challenges during pregnancy. As the baby grows bigger; hormonal changes and your womb expands which puts a considerable pressure against your stomach. So, pregnant women suffer from a lot of indigestion and heartburn. If you lie down after taking a large amount of meal, you may suffer from heartburn and indigestion.

Drinking a lot of water, milk or eating some yoghurt can help you to avoid indigestion and heartburn. You can get rid of heartburn by taking small 6 meals instead of 3 big meals per day. You can get relieve heartburn by using antacid solutions/tablets. Consult your doctor or midwife regarding suitable tablets to use in pregnancy.

Back Pain

Moms get backache due to the fusion of soft ligaments and increasing the size of a developing baby during pregnancy. If you suffer backache constantly, you should visit the hospital or make an appointment from a Physiotherapist.

Headache during pregnancy

You may go through a mild headache during your pregnancy. The headache mostly occurs in early pregnancy and usually improve or stop in the last six months. It is not harmful to your baby, but it can be painful for you. The main reason you suffer headaches is due to a change in your hormone during pregnancy.

Drink plenty of water, try daily light exercises and yoga classes to prevent headache.

Constipation

There are some hormonal changes in your body can cause constipation or make it discomfort for you during pregnancy. You should drink 8–12 glasses of water a day to prevent constipation. Take a lot of fluids like water, milk, juices and squash etc. Check on your iron supplements if any concern during pregnancy.

To avoid constipation, increase in the fibre-filled diet by eating the whole grains, bread and cereals, fresh fruit, green vegetables, nuts and cooked dried beans.

Swollen feet, hands and fingers

It's casual to get swelling during your pregnancy, particularly in your legs, hands, ankles, feet and fingers. Frequently, it’s worse swelling in the last months of your pregnancy. As it is not harmful to your baby, but it can be uncomfortable for you.

Vomiting and Severe Nausea

Particularly in the first trimester, nausea and vomiting are very normal, some pregnant women may experience severe nausea that lasts in the third trimester. Severe nausea is known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum (pronounced HEYE-pur-EM-uh-suhss grav-uh-DAR-uhm); which cause weight loss, peeling, reduced appetite, dehydration and feeling faint. You should take proper medication in case of severe nausea (Hyperemesis Gravidarum).

Vaginal Bleeding and discharge during pregnancy

Vaginal Bleeding during pregnancy is relatively common but it can be a dangerous sign. You may experience miscarriage or pregnancy loss due to heavier bleeding. Check to your genealogist weekly to avoid any problem in future.

All normal women have vaginal discharge beginning a year or two before puberty and ending after the menopause. It is common to have more discharge while you are pregnant than before. The discharge amount may change from time to time. Healthy vaginal discharge is slightly thin, clear or milky white, and should not be smell unpleasant.

Urinary Incontinence

Urinary incontinence is when you need to urinate frequently in the first 12- 14 weeks of pregnancy than usual. Urinary frequency is normal during pregnancy so you can't do anything to relieve it.

Consult to your doctor or midwife if you suffer from burning, stinging or back pain when you pass urine. These could be symptoms of a urinary tract infection, which should be cured swiftly to prevent any complications.
