Do you know Alaska has been named as the safest airline? If there is anything that the airlines think about above all is the safety of its passengers.

Alaska has been considered among the top 20 safest airlines in the world by Airlineratings.com. This recognition portrays the level of commitment that the airline has to keep its passengers safe. Apart from Alaska, the other airlines that has gained this recognition are All Nippon Airways, American Airlines, British Airways, Austrian Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, EVA Air, Emirates, Finnair, KLM, Lufthansa, Hawaiian Airlines, Qantas, Qatar, Scandinavian Airline System, Swiss, United Airlines, Singapore Airlines and both Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia.

According to Geoffrey Thomas, the editor in chief of AirlineRatings.com, the top twenty carriers have been chosen in terms of safety, innovation, and new aircraft. The site also announced the top ten safest discount carriers. They are Flybe, Frontier, Jetblue, HK Express, Jetstar Australia / Asia, Volaris, Vueling, Thomas Cook, Westjet, and Wizz.

Compared to the other discount airlines, these carriers have all acted following International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audits (IOSA) and have all excelled in safety records. The factors that are considered to decide the top twenty safest airlines are audits from transportation associations and governments, each airline’s crash and serious incident record, and the average age of its aircraft. The site also counted serious incidents while selecting the top 20 airlines. Thomas thinks that it is the manner in which a flight crew addresses or handles a situation or certain incidents that differentiates a safe airline from an unsafe one. Thus, it is very unfair to combine all incidents while considering the safety of an airline.

AirlineRatings.com has simultaneously announced its lowest-ranked airlines, that are Ariana Afghan Airlines, Kam Air, Bluewing Airlines, and Trigana Air Service. The rating system that determines the safety of 405 air carriers was launched in 2013. It checks the safety of 405 air carriers and also rates each airline from one to seven stars. The site has been observed and used by millions of travelers from 232 countries and has set a new standard for safety and product ratings in the airline industry.

If comfort and safety are the factors that you consider while flying, you should choose Alaska Airlines.
