Between an SD card and Flash drive is it difficult for you to choose one? How to differentiate between them you don't know and is your mind fighting the war “SD card vs Flash Drive”? Then this article is for you. Let me tell you, after the end of this writing, like dust in the air your confusion will also fade away and you'll know about them.

So let's get started...

What is the SD Card?

Secure Digital which is more known as SD card. In the game consoles, MP3 players, phones, and digital cameras in many devices SD cards are an integral part. The SDIO, the Extended-Capacity or SDXC, the High-Capacity or SDHC, and the Standard-Capacity or SDSC originally are the four families.

In the micro size, the mini size, and in the original size the SD's are available. Micro SD we used mostly.

From 32 GB to 2 TB data can store the SDXC card. But yet the 2 TB SD hasn't made.

Up to 32 GB data can store the SDHC card.

Up to 4 GB, data can store the SDSC.

Class: There are different classes of SD cards on the basis of speed rating: - Class 2 - Class 4 - Class 6 - Class 10 - UHS-1 - UHS-3

For normal recordings like SD video recording functions smoothly Class 2 and a minimum writing sequential writing speed of 2 MB/s.

For normal HD recordings, the class 4 and class 6 functions smoothly and respectively have a minimum sequential writing speed of 4 MB/s and 6 MB/s.

For large HD files and for Full-HD recordings class 10 function smoothly and has a minimum sequential writing speed of 10 MB/s.

As like class 10, the same function has the UHS-1. But from class 10 the UHS us slightly better.

For huge files and for 4k recordings the UHS-3 used nicely and has also minimum sequential write speed of 30 MB/s.

What is Flash Drive?

With an integrated USB interface that includes a flash memory, a data storage device is a USB Flash drive. For the necessary transfer of different computer files, data back-up and for storage flash drive is used. Flash drive has no moving parts so they are more reliable, they have higher capacity, faster and are smaller.

Different types of flash drives are: - Keychain flash drive - The boot flash drive - Music flash drive - Security Flash Drive and so on.

Between 128MB to 256GB of data they can store. On the market recently offer USB 3.0 but most of the flash drives use USB 2.0.

SD card vs flash drive :

- You need to buy a card reader compulsorily for memory card while you'll just need a USB port for USB flash drives. - Rather than a flash drive, SDs are smaller in size. - For Linux, Mac, and Windows flash drives are used. And for portable devices, SD cards are used. - 126MB to 256GB of data capacity has both of the flash drive and SD card.

As we said, we hope now you know the sd card and flash drive comparison.
