8 really good reasons to use a vibrator

Belgian women and their pleasure": this was the subject of a TNS survey of 500 Belgian women between the ages of 18 and 60 launched by a brand that is bringing a new kind of vibrator to the Belgian market.

The TNS study involved almost 500 women between 18 and 60 years old around these questions: Is the Belgian woman happy and fulfilled sexually? Does she know her body well? What about her quest for pleasure? What is the place of 'sextoys' in her sexual life? Is masturbation still a taboo?

All these questions and answers were interpreted by Pascal de Sutter, sexologist.

In Belgium, only one woman in four uses a vibrator. And among the 61.4% of women who don't have one, the reasons are very different: because they have never thought about it (30.32%), because they prefer classical masturbation (20.31%), because they have never found the right one (4.73%), because they don't dare to go to a sex shop (4.17%) and finally because they are ashamed (1.85%).

From all this presentation, we have drawn 10 reasons to use a sextoy when we feel like it!

1. Because it helps to know your body better Although 6 out of 10 women know their bodies very well, more than 38.5% still don't know how they prefer to masturbate! Pascal De Sutter adds: "For a long time, female masturbation was considered pathological. Freud thought it made women hysterical and psychotic. Other doctors even claimed that it was a fatal disease. There is still something of it today."

2. Because it is easier to reach orgasm 6 out of 10 women do not reach orgasm easily. More surprisingly, 15% of Belgian women never or almost never have an orgasm! According to Pascal De Sutter, "I am not surprised by these figures. However, regular masturbation, i.e. one to several times a week, and with the help of a vibrator, allows women to get to know their bodies better and therefore to reach orgasm more easily".

3. Because it is important to feel comfortable Female masturbation is still a taboo subject. Indeed, more than one woman out of two does not talk about her sex life and if she does, she will privilege her partner to talk about it. Masturbation remains an intimate subject for 61.2% of women. In Belgium, one in two women masturbate at least once a month (49.8%). On the other hand, one woman in three never masturbates and among these, 78.7% do not know why they do not do it, 20.2% because they feel uncomfortable!

"There is still a real taboo for women to touch their genitals. This is most likely due to the fact that it is forbidden for children and negative references to the female sex. Many women don't appreciate the view of the vulva and have misgivings about cleanliness," explains Pascal De Sutter.

Think of Freud, who thought it made women hysterical and psychotic. Other doctors even said it was a fatal disease. There is still something of it in people's mentalities today.

4. Because a vibrator lowers tension For 7 out of 10 women, masturbation is still a good way to please themselves and more than 47.2% think that it helps to reduce their tension. Easier than finding expert hands for back massage, isn't it?

5. Because it is a kind of intimate coach Among the women who masturbate, more than a third (35.1%) prefer external masturbation, 23.9% masturbate both inside and outside, and only 2.5% masturbate only from the inside. "It's a pity that women explore the inside of their sex so little. Because two-way relationships generally include penetration," says De Sutter.
