Many small business owners don't understand SEO, also known as Search Engine Optimization. Some concentrate on building this awesome website that nobody can even find, or many just throw something random up and cross their fingers. The ability to take a website and have it perform for you is sometimes the difference between staying afloat and drowning. Along the same lines, many business owners don't realize the importance of social media. With social media, its about content and engagement for your audience. If you are posting self-absorbed content that nobody gets value from, it will get pushed under the rug. Also, having an active strong social media improves your brand ranking on Google. For instance, if I am searching for a carpet cleaner near my home, I go on Google and type "carpet cleaner". The first few results are going to be the map listings,and then the organic search listings. Who will I pick? I will probably call 2 of the top 3 results in the map and/or organic search results and make my decision between those 2. Thats what MOST consumers are doing. They -aren't digging to the bottom of the pile trying to find your website.
