Every warehouse has a finite amount of space and optimizing the space is essential to having a good and efficient warehouse. Secondly, all items should be placed according to the correct dimensions. Some racks may require shelves to be removed in order to make the item placement easier. The pallets or racks should be aligned to make sure that the correct item is at eye level and in good contact with the shelves. Again, efficiency is key here. You want to optimize your space for your work and you want your workers to be able to move through your warehouse efficiently while they do their work.

Thirdly, it is important to locate the correct items. This is where measuring the shelves will be essential. Each pallet rack or stack should be marked with its exact measurement. This will allow for accurate placing of the correct item within the storage area. The actual item should be placed within the wall space and the space between shelves. If it is possible to move the pallet racks around the wall in order to better view the item to be stored, then this will ensure that the correct item is always visible in the same spot each time. For example, if the shelf is located at a different height from the wall then items stacked on the shelf may not be placed in the same spot each time.
