Growing psychedelic mushrooms at home give you a dependable, year-round supply and eliminate the risk of buying low-quality products. Besides, it's a cost-effective, fun hobby for most of the growers.

You can buy mushroom grow kits from the market and use those ready-to-use packs to make your job easier. But, doing it yourself from scratch is more reliable and risk-free. Here's taking you through the process of growing your psychedelic mushrooms.

Important Ingredients You Require

Make sure you have the following things in place to grow the magic mushrooms:

  • Pressure cooker
  • Vermiculite
  • Perlite
  • Canning jars
  • Spore Syringe
  • Big Tupperware box
  • Hammer and nail
  • Aluminum foil
  • Alcohol lamp
  • Brown rice flour
  • Plain water
  • Small towels

Steps to Growing Your Psychedelic Mushrooms

Now that you have arranged all the things that you need to grow the psychedelic mushrooms let's start with the process. You can choose microdosing mushrooms if you don't want to grow it.

Step 1: The Preparation

Preparing the jars

  • Remove the lid of the jar. Use the sanitized hammer and nail to punch four evenly-spaced holes through the circumference of every lid.

Preparing the Substrate

  • Combine ¼ cup of water and â…” cup of vermiculite in the mixing bowl, and strain the extra water.
  • Put ¼ cup of brown rice flour in the bowl for each jar, and mix it with moist vermiculite.

Filling the Jars

  • Fill your jars within half-inch of their rims, and not too tightly.
  • Top the jars with a dry vermiculite layer for insulating the substrate from any contaminant.

Sterilizing the Jars

  • Screw the canning jars tightly, and cover it with aluminum foil. Make sure that the foil edges are secure to prevent any moisture from getting in through the holes.
  • Put a small towel into the pressure cooker before arranging the jars over it. The jars shouldn't touch the base.
  • Add water to the pressure cooker until halfway up the jars, and bring the water to a slow boil.
  • Let the jars steam for at least seventy-five to ninety minutes. Put hot water in case the pot gets dry.
  • Leave the jars in the pot overnight, so that they reach the room temperature before your next step.

Step 2: The Inoculation

Preparing the Syringe

  • Heat the length of the needle until it's red hot. Let the needle cool down and use alcohol to wipe it without touching its surface.
  • Pull the plunger back a little and shake that syringe for evenly distributing the psychedelic mushroom spores.

Injecting the Spores

  • Remove the aluminum foil from the jars to insert the syringe through the holes as far along as possible.
  • Inject about ¼ cc of your spore solution along the sides of the jars.
  • Wipe the needle with alcohol as you go from one jar to another.
  • Cover the holes with tape, and keep the jars aside

Step 3: The Colonization

Waiting for the Mycelium

  • Place the inoculated jars somewhere away from direct sunlight and dust.
  • Fluffy, white mycelium will start appearing at around one week or two.
  • You will have successfully colonized jars within four weeks, but the mycelium will need a week more to gain a stronghold on its substrate.

Step 4: Preparation of the Grow Chamber

Making the Fruiting Chamber

  • Take the Tupperware box to drill ¼" holes 2" apart on the lid, base, and sides.
  • Make sure to cover the surface below the box to prevent any kind of moisture leakage.

Adding Perlite

  • Soak the perlite and let it drain completely before spreading it over the base of the grow chamber.
  • The perlite layer has to be about four inches deep.

Step 5: The Fruiting

Birthing of the Cakes

  • Remove the dry vermiculite layer from each of the jars carefully, making sure that the cakes (colonized substrates) are undamaged.
  • Tap down the upended jars on a clean surface for releasing the cakes.

Dunking the Cakes

  • Gently rinse each cake under tap water for removing loose vermiculite without damaging the cakes.
  • Fill the pressure cooker with water before placing the cakes inside. Submerge the cakes below the water surface using another pot.
  • Let the pot remain at room temperature for a day.

Transferring the Cakes

  • Take the cakes out of the water and completely coat them using dry vermiculite.
  • Cut aluminum foils to place below your cakes on the growing chamber.

Monitoring the Conditions

  • Spray the chamber four times daily, and fan using the lid to keep the airflow going.

The Final Touch

And, that's all you need to do for growing the magic mushrooms! Within about twelve days, the fruits will be ready for harvesting. The only thing you need to remember is to cut the shrooms before they reach maturity so that their potency remains intact.

It's time to get to work!
