Streetwear quite truly covers many aspects of the fashion scene at the moment. Where it was considered just for skaters, it’s now a hybrid of elements that suits just about everyone. Whether it’s made for the mainstream market or a highly-priced item for the extremely fashionable. The proof of this statement can be easily supported when we look at some of the high fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton and Burberry which have sacrificed their traditional styles for comfort and utility. With the AW20 season well underway, here are just some of the trends we’re expecting this year.

Outdoor Gear

In fashion weeks over the recent months we’ve been seeing outdoor gear part of everyday outfits and it’s becoming a popular trend for the end of this year. Where it may have once been laughable to see a pair of shorts being worn with a big jacket, it’s now becoming a bit of a phenomenon in the fashion industry. Part of this shift has been because of streetwear practical obsession for design, providing functionality over style and looks. A good example of this is North Face, which is making a growing appearance at fashion shows.

Statement Sneakers

Over exuberant trainers were once a fashion icon, but we’ve since seen simplistic design take over for many years. Well, they’re now making a comeback as sneakers continue to be the most popular entity for fashion businesses. We’ve seen many collaborations by sneakers brands that have been making unique and limited edition footwear. These statement pieces are becoming unique and complimenting full outfits for many fashion moguls.

Baggy Clothing

Over the last decade or so, it’s fair to say that skinny and slim fit clothing has been one of the hallmarks of this period. From mens spray-on jeans to skinny fit tracksuits, it’s been a trend that’s lasted years, particularly in the streetwear scene. However, we’re now seeing a big shift from these styles to more bagginess in clothing styles. Take shoreditch high street for example and you’re more than likely to see a crowd or two of wide-legged trousers and long, baggy fit t-shirts.
