Juggling between too many opened tabs on the browser is not a new story. The tabs that accidentally get closed adds up to the issue. Thankfully, Google understood this problem that users were facing and proactively came out with a new feature to group these tabs. This article will discuss Tab Groups, a new feature added to Google Chrome, so you can stay organized while working. This feature helps you create a group of tabs and allow you to add and remove them if and when required. So, keep reading to learn how to do it all. Enable Tab Grouping Follow the instructions below to enable Tab Grouping on Google Chrome: Step 1: Start by opening a new tab in Chrome, and type “chrome://flags” in the search bar. Step 2: A window will come up. Type “Tab Groups” in the search bar at the top, and hit Enter. Step 3: You will see a drop-down titled Default next to the Tab Groups section. Click on this drop-box to choose “Enable.” Step 4: On the next screen, you will see a blue-colored “Relaunch Now” button towards the bottom. The moment you click this button, Chrome will reopen all the active tabs. Accessing Tab Groups You won’t find any difference in Chrome after enabling the Tab Groups, as this feature still needs some settings to start working. Follow the instructions below to get going with Tab Groups: Step 1: Start by opening a few new tabs in Google Chrome. Step 2: Now, right-click on a tab to choose the “Add to a new group” option. This will open a box with eight different colored circles and a few options to choose from, which includes: New tab to the group, Ungroup, Close group, and Move the group to a new window. Step 3: You can provide these groups with a name by entering the name in the “Name this group” box. This will help you distinguish between various groups. Know that the colored circle will disappear if you are giving a name to the group. Eliminating Tabs from a Group If a tab is no longer required in a group, then you can remove this unnecessary tab from the group with a single click. All you need to do is right-click on the tab you aren’t required anymore and click on “Remove from group” from the list of available options. Alternatively, you can drag out the tab from the group and release it on the tabs bar to open this tab independently. After this, you can simply click on the “X” mark to close it, like you usually do. In case you are done with most of the Tab Groups, you can go back to the separated tabs with a few clicks. You can do so by clicking on the name or the colored circle of that group and select “Ungroup.” This will dissolve the entire group, and the tabs, which were a part of this group, will now be laying separately in the tabs bar of your browser window. Close a Group In case all the tabs in a group are no longer required, or in other words, the entire group is not required, you can choose to close the group. You will get rid of all the tabs, which were a part of this group. To do so, go to the name or the colored circle of the group, right-click on it, and choose “Close Group” from the options. The entire group will be eliminated from the tabs bar on your browser window. And in case, after deleting this group, you realize that you still need to work on one of the tabs, then you can easily reopen that tab. To do so, press Ctrl + H to open the list of recently closed tabs. Here, you can find the required tab and click on it to reaccess it. Chrome’s Tab Grouping is a perfect tool to stay organized, especially for those who have to open several tabs while working. We hope you have understood how to use this feature on Google Chrome for your benefit. Everleig is a Blog expert and has been working in the technology industry since 2003.
