The Predator franchise has announced a reboot, which is independent of 2018’s The Predator. The franchise has made a bold move by starting it over and getting rid of the baggage. Predator is a science fiction film series that encounters the extraterrestrial hunters known as the “Predator.” The franchise consists of four films in chronological order, Predator, Predator 2, Predators, and The Predator, directed by different filmmakers John McTiernan, Stephen Hopkins, Nimród Antal, and Shane Black, respectively. The franchise has many novels, video game spin-offs, and comics. The plot of the Predator follows humanity encounters a deadly hostile extraterrestrial species named the Predators. The films portray human confrontation with these aliens in different locations and time zones. The Predators films started with fun, action, and horror content that impress a broad audience with the content. The franchise gives the most iconic monster to the cinema. The comic books of the franchise have dug big into the history of the Predator monster. The team has put effort into bringing back the franchise’s charm by adding revenge to the plot. The last few franchise projects have tried to take a fresh start and tell the story differently. However, the sequels were not well received by audiences as well as by critics, but the plots have highlighted the larger problem. Black’s version of the film, The predator, is the most poorly received sequel among all. The film got a 33% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 277 reviews. After such inadequate responses, the team is again ready with another to the franchise. The reboot will be directed by the director Dan Trachtenberg is an American podcast host and filmmaker. He is best known for his short films including, the premiere episode of The Boys, an episode of Black Mirror, and the 2011 short film Portal: No Escape. The director received the Directors Guild of America Award nomination for Outstanding Directing – First-Time Feature Film for his horror-thriller movie 10 Cloverfield Lane. Trachtenberg made a smart move by ignoring the 2018 sequel of the franchise and is focusing on creating a storyline with a different and fresh perspective. There isn’t much about the film revealed, but the reboot might turn back to the American Civil War. There could be many stories surrounding the ideology of juxtaposes and Yautja and take the theme to build the Civil War’s tension. The approach of the film feels more free and mature than that of 2018’s version. The filmmaker’s approach for the new movie is to look back to the original Predator movies to eliminate irrelevant plots and characters. The movie sounds like it will reclaim it’s formerly great glory. With so many failed sequels, the team and the audience hope for a good reboot to help the franchise come on track.
