Unlock Your Chromebook Using Android Phone Before getting started, make sure that you have paired both your Android phone and Chromebook. It is also essential to note that your Android device must be running 5.1 version or later, and the Chromebook must be updated to Chrome OS 71 update. To work with this feature successfully, it is essential to sign up with the same Google account on your Android phone and Chromebook. Now, the steps to set up the feature that will unlock your Chromebook using an Android phone are: Tap on the status area in the lower-right corner of the screen on your Chromebook. A new panel will open. Click on the ‘Settings’ option indicated by a ‘gear’ icon. Locate the ‘Connected Devices’ section in the next window. Click on the ‘Set Up’ option next to the ‘Android Phone.’ An additional pop-up window will open. Tap on the ‘Select a device’ drop-down menu and select the name of your Android phone. Hit the ‘Accept & Continue’ button in the lower-right corner of the window. Enter your Google credentials when prompted in the next window. An ‘All Set’ confirmation menu will appear on the screen. Hit the ‘Done’ button. Now, go back to the ‘Connected Devices’ section in the Settings menu on your Chromebook. Click on the ‘Verify’ option and unlock your Android phone. You’ll receive a confirmation message saying that your Chromebook and Android phone are now linked. Navigate to the ‘Connected Devices’ section again and select the name of your Android phone. Turn the slider on for the ‘Smart Lock’ option and enter your Chromebook’s password. This is it! Now, whenever you unlock your Android phone, the lock icon will turn green next to the password field on your Chromebook. It means that you’re authenticated.
