Most people are interested to invest in an Android phone because of its customization capability. You can customize almost everything on the phones, including ringtones and sounds. Do you and your annoying coworker use the same ringtone on your Android? Well, it’s time to change it. How? We’ve got your back! Using the Zedge App to Find and Set Ringtones There are plenty of options to find and set ringtones; however, the Zedge app is the easiest of them all to use. The app enables you to customize and personalize your Android phone, primarily ringtones and wallpapers. One downside of using the Zedge app is the number of ads that appear in between, but you can get the ad-free upgrade if you like using the app more often. You can begin by searching the ringtone and once you find the ideal sound, here’s how you can set the same: Open the ringtone’s detail screen and click on the ‘Set’ button. A number of options will open. Therefore, select the ‘Set Ringtone’ option. A pop-up menu will open. Tap on the ‘Allow’ button to begin downloading the ringtone on your phone. Tap on the ‘Settings’ option in the next pop-up menu, and you’ll be taken to the modify system settings page. Turn the slider on for the ‘Allow modify system settings’ option. Go back to the Zedge app by clicking the back button. Once you’ve followed the steps correctly, a notification will appear at the bottom of the screen, telling you that the ringtone is applied. Adding a Ringtone File Manually to the Ringtones Folder If you have the ringtone that you want to use on your phone, all you’ll need to have is a file manager app. While some phones already have a file manager, others will require you to download one from the Play Store. Therefore, the steps to manually add a ringtone to the ringtones folder are: Launch the ‘Downloads’ folder and press and hold on the ringtone. Click on the ‘Copy’ icon on top of the screen. Open the location menu by swiping in from the left edge. Click on the ‘Internal Memory’ option. Select the ‘Ringtones’ folder from the menu. In case you want to use the sound for the text tone or alarm, select the ‘Notifications’ folder. Click on the ‘Paste’ icon. Once you’ve pasted the ringtone, it’ll appear instantly. However, if it doesn’t, reboot your phone and you’ll see the ringtone in the ‘Sounds’ menu. Setting a Custom Ringtone in Settings The steps to set a custom ringtone in settings are: Go to the ‘Settings’ app. Locate the ‘Sounds’ tab and click on the same. If there’s no Sound tab available, search ‘Ringtones’ in the search bar. Click on the ‘Phone Ringtone’ option in the next window. If the prompt appears saying ‘Open with’ or ‘Complete action using’ option, select the ‘Sound Picker’ app in place of a file manager or Zedge. Select the custom ringtone added in the ringtones folder. Click on the ‘Save’ or ‘Ok’ option. Using a Custom Ringtone for a Contact You can assign a separate ringtone to each of your contacts. Therefore, it’ll also become easy for you to figure out the caller when your phone is kept away from you. So, the steps to set and use a custom ringtone for your contacts are: Launch the ‘Contacts’ app on your Android device. Locate and open the contact for which you want to set the custom ringtone. Tap on the ‘ellipses’ icon in the upper-right corner of the window. Select the ‘Set Ringtone’ option from the pop-up menu. Select the ringtone you added to the ringtones folder. Click on the ‘Ok’ or ‘Save’ button. Setting a Custom Notification Sound in Settings App Now that you’ve changed the ringtone, why not change the notification sound as well? If you have a notification sound that you want to set, add the same to the Notifications folder. Further, the steps to set up the notification sound are: Launch the ‘Settings’ app. Click on the Sound/ Sound and Display/ Personalization tab. Click on the ‘Default Notification Sound’ option in the next window. Tap on the custom notification sound added to the Notifications folder. Click on the ‘Ok’ or ‘Save’ button. This is it! Have you found the perfect ringtone or notification sound to set up on your Android phone? If yes, don’t wait anymore and make your device more fun by using these customized sounds.
