A campaign donation form is written documentation given to an individual for a donation made to an individual's campaign. Donors may donate to an individual's campaign by contributing goods or services (in-kind contribution). Alternatively, contributors may give money directly to the campaign for the purpose of running a full-fledged campaign. No matter what the method of contribution is, the document is used as an invoice and confirmation that the funds were donated and it should be in writing. Campaign donation forms can also include the name and address of the person who contributed the funds as well as the amount he is expected to donate.

Campaign contributions are made either through in-kind contributions or through a Political Party. In-kind contributions include products like meals, office supplies, transportation, printing services, and other tangible items that would benefit the recipient in some way if purchased and used by him. A Political Party makes these donations through its Political Campaign Committee. The Political Campaign donation forms provide all the information required by the person contributing the money, including the type of goods or services he wants to purchase and how much he is expecting to give.

Political contributions are made by individual citizens as a way to support or oppose a candidate for office. Most of the time, these are small donations made via telephone or via the mail. However, there are some instances when large contributions are made to political organizations like super PACS that can accept large donations without any checks or paperwork.

Campaign contributions are a major part of the political process where candidates compete with one another in order to receive donations from individuals, corporations, labor unions, and other groups. Candidates in many city elections rely heavily on campaign donation limits placed by their respective cities as a way to raise money for their campaigns. Many cities have election donation limits and campaign contribution limits, which are decided by the laws and regulations of each city. These laws and regulations are in place to protect citizens from attempts by local candidates to circumvent campaign contribution limits. In addition, the laws limit the amount of money any one person or group can contribute during an election.

City election laws also set limits on the amounts of recurring contributions candidates can receive. Recurring contributions are contributions that are received monthly or yearly and are not necessarily for the running of an actual campaign. Candidates who receive recurring contributions from the same people are subject to stricter contribution limits. This means that candidates who receive five percent recurring contributions from the same people are restricted to spending only five percent of their campaign budget on recurring contributions. City election contribution limits may also apply to former candidates.

Campaign donation limits and political organization contribution limits differ slightly from state to state. Most states have limits on the amount of a person can contribute during an election, and limits on political organization spending as well. Most states have separate caps on the total amount of contributions that political organizations may make during an election. Political organizations may also exceed their election spending limits when they go over their daily limit of contributions. In many instances, these limits may be suspended during an election if the political organization meets them.
