The popular eCommerce platform Shopify recently announced its partnership with Facebook to introduce its payment tool Shop Pay to Facebook and Instagram.

The new Shop Pay feature will first roll out for Instagram users, and later on, it will be made available on Facebook Shops, the platform for small businesses, in the upcoming weeks.

Once Shopify’s checkout and payment processing system, Shop Pay, is added, users will be able to use it to complete their purchases. This is undoubtedly an excellent addition to the existing payment options available to buyers as it will offer them a much more secure and convenient experience on the platform.

PayPal and manually typing the credit or debit card details were the only payment options available to shoppers currently. According to reports, the Facebook Pay payment system offers all these payment methods.

Shop Pay allows customers to track their order using the Shop app, provides them with the option to pay for their orders in easy installments, and also promises the buyers to offset each package delivery’s carbon emissions, according to Shopify itself.

Shop Pay also stores users’ credit card details and shipping information to help speed up online checkout. This is the first time Shop Pay is being made available outside of Shopify itself.

This payment feature is designed to minimize the purchase friction, streamline the checkout process, and make the whole buying process easier for shoppers by eliminating the need to enter the shipping and credit card details every time they place an order.

In its recent quarterly earnings report, Shopify revealed that it has 60 million users worldwide.

WRAPPING IT UP

The pandemic-fueled boost in the number of users buying and selling with Shops on Facebook and Instagram has led the social media company to take some exciting steps to simplify this process for buyers. In its latest announcement on Tuesday, Shopify said that it has partnered with Facebook to bring its payment feature Shop Pay to Instagram and soon in Facebook Shops, thus expanding the currently available payment options. This will indeed prove beneficial for shoppers as Shop Pay offers many benefits, including options to track their orders, buy now, pay later, etc. For the time being, this payment option will be made available to Instagram users first, and in the next couple of weeks, it will be extended to Facebook Shops too.
