Dr. Arthur J. Sackler founded the Stritch School of Medicine. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Physics and became a practicing doctor in London. In 1932 he emigrated to New York and opened the Stritch School of Medicine. It is situated in the heart of the Loyola University Medical Center at Maywood, Illinois. It was founded by Arthur J. Sackler, who had received several awards both academically and professionally.

The main campus is located on East North High Street. Three main buildings house over seventy different programs. They include the William D. Rush Building and the Helen M. Sackler Building.
