All serious cosplayers understand the importance of getting ready for a convention. Depending on the individual, this means getting prepared a couple of weeks ahead of time. No matter what the details involved, preparing yourself for Cosplay can seem complicated.

However, the great thing is that there are many hacks available that very few people know about. When you use these hacks, you will see just how easy it is to prepare for your Cosplay convention.

To help you get ready, go ahead and gather your supplies so you can put these six hacks to work for you.

1. Incorporate Faux Embroidery and Puff Paint

If you are thinking of embroidering, you need to keep in mind that it is not easy to understand the craft. However, to make the job much more accessible, you can use a hack that will make your costume seem like you have spent many days of embroidering, and that is with puff paint. With puff paint, you just need to outline the design’s detail and then do a little bit of stitch work on the paint edges, thus giving you an effective embroidered look.

2. Metal Appearance with Mirror Vinyl

Many costumes involve using some sort of metal object, whether it’s for a weapon or armor. By using mirror vinyl, you will be able to satisfy the appearance of metal. It is very elastic and not too thick, so wrapping your weapons with it will be a synch to accomplish. When your weapons and armor are enveloped using mirror vinyl, they will have a nice finish that is natural in appearance. It provides a metallic and reflective surface, which metal and steel are often recognized as being. You will also love that mirror vinyl is a cheap option that can be easily cut to size.

3. Create Volume by Incorporating More than a Single Wig

Styling a wig for your cosplay costume does not have to be perfect. It is better just to leave it in a messy look and go on your way. This is usually because a wig does not perform naturally. To overcome this and make it look more natural, adding volume will provide practicality and fullness, which can only be attained through more than one wig. Of course, it may take some time to achieve, but it will be worth the extra time if you are looking to create curls or bangs.

4. Incorporate Some Sock Glue

You will thank me when you incorporate some sock glue and see for yourself as it works wonders for any type of fabric. Having reliable glue that works miracles for your costume is a secret weapon. It can maintain its stronghold on a long list of items such as wigs, stockings, and of course, socks. With sock glue, it is something that should always be in your cosplay tool arsenal.

5. Altering Your Eyebrow with Liquid Lipstick

Altering your eyebrow color can be easy and fun and allows you to be a little creative at the same time. This also allows the cosplayer to look more realistic with their chosen character. Having liquid lipstick is a simple trick that can quickly enable eyebrows to take shape in a matter of seconds. Plus, it will not take much to achieve the desired effect, so applying just a little will be perfect.

6. Adding Contacts

If you are thinking of incorporating colored contacts for cosplay purposes, you need to know that you will need to obtain a contact prescription before purchasing any. If you don’t receive a prescription first, then there may be adverse reactions due to improper fitting of the lenses, which could cause an eye injury.

To get it done legally, you should make an eye appointment with an optometrist. This should be accomplished regardless of your vision being 20/20

If contacts are already a daily thing for you, then you can quickly get them colored or altered for your cosplay look. If you wear glasses, though, then an appointment will be necessary for fitting and strength purposes.

Preparing costumes for cosplay does not have to be as complicated or painful as one would think. By using the hacks, we’ve provided will make the prepping stage so much easier. You will surely surprise your friends as they will indeed wonder what you used to create your cosplay masterpiece.
