2020 has been a revolutionary year for the Xiaomi brand as they have tried to enter into the mid-premium segment. In this pursuit, it launched the Mi 10 that delivered on the smartphone side, and now with the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Watch Revolve, it has tried to offer a more premium alternative to the extremely popular Mi Band.

Talking about the design of the watch, the brand clearly wants to invoke the feel of the classy watch with a digital inward. While many simple smartwatches try to imitate the iconic Apple design, Xiaomi attempted something different from the circular design with dial marks along the raised chamfered edge as well as twin pushers on the side. The 46 mm case is absolutely massive, and somebody with a slender wrist will find it too big.

Now talking about the panel, the AMOLED panel has high resolution. Also, the watch has a high peak brightness which makes it easier to work outdoors. The AMOLED panel also affords the ability to have an always-on display which comes in handy to watch time. The software also gives you multiple options for the always-on display, both analog and digital options. The chamfered edge around the display appears to be made of plastic, but the rest of the body is a mix of brushed aluminum and hard plastic.

There are two pushers. The one at the top directs you to the app menu, and the second pusher can be set as a shortcut key for most watch functions. It is set to bring up the workout function by default. It has a charging cradle that uses magnets to align with the watch and can top of the 420mAh battery in about 90 minutes. Although Xiaomi has claimed for 2 weeks battery life which may a little too ambitious given its always-on display. The weight of the watch is 40 g, so you can even use it during sleep without getting noticed. The watch is also waterproof down to 5 Atm. So overall, Xiaomi has done a good job in the design and the battery.

The watch is built to record ten different activities like running, cycling, swimming, and even freestyle workouts and their workout variants. It has an inbuilt GPS which allows you to go for a run or cycling. It also tracks your heart rate and even tracks your sleep. It can even differentiate between light, deep, and REM sleeps and also gives you a sleep score which can help you to understand your sleep pattern.

It also goes a step further and captures additional metrics such as mental stress and overall energy. For this, it captures your heart rate variability when you are sitting still for a long time, and using this data, it estimates if you are relaxed or not and also gives you an overall score. Likewise, it also gives you an energy score after analyzing your sleep data, heart rate, and some other parameters.
Xiaomi Mi Watch Revolve is closer to a fitness tracker than an actual smartwatch in its integration with your phone. It will show notifications, incoming calls, but you can’t reply to text messages.

You can set a do not disturb mode, adjust brightness, and also, there is a find my phone option. You can also use the torch option and an alarm function, stopwatch.

In its updated version, Xiaomi has added an extra function of controlling the camera shutter using the watch. It also gained Alexa’s support.

So, if you want a large fitness tracker, sure, you can go for it. It offers a large variety of watch faces and just functions to make you interested and up to date. But let us talk about the truth also what Mi Watch Revolve is a rather good fitness tracker, but at half the price, the Mi Band 6 delivers much of the same capabilities. I’m not sure if the added bits are truly worth the extra cost involved. More so when an actual Wear OS smartwatch like the Oppo Watch doesn’t cost that much more money.

Our closing remarks are that Xiaomi isn’t the only option out there in its price range. You can also choose from the Huami, Amazon T-Rex, or T-Rex Pro.
