Mandy Shore was born in the UK during World War II and was cared by her adoptive parents. When she started searching her family tree, Mandy discovered that her mother was a single woman who lived near the American Air Force base and her father remained a mystery for many years. Ancestry DNA helped her search and discover their family tree using a DNA test. The Ancestry DNA database revealed that Mandy had two half-sisters by her father’s side, living in Texas, America. In an email, Ann Burrage and Lynn Garner helped Mandy to complete the puzzle. Her father might be an American G.I., and after the end of the war, he moved to Texas and married and had two daughters without Mandy's information. The self-generated Lifestory has a lot of heavy lifting when translating information, facts, and dates into a narrative of someone’s life, but it shines when you make it your own. At starting, you have complete control of all the narrative snippets and have the ability to select which Historical Insights you want to save and improve your ancestor’s story with photos. The result has been a very fast and intuitive way to show the rich tapestry of our ancestor’s lives. Some members have shared that they would choose to jump straight into writing their own stories without auto-generated Lifestory. To allow this, we have recently added a new option for customers to each tree’s settings page that will allow us to disable or enable stories being generated for that tree. Turn Off stories You need to tap on your tree and go to the True Settings. Under the settings option on the tree, you will find a new or added option below your Tree Name and Description of your tree. If the option Automatically builds stories for this tree is enabled. In that case, you can turn it off on a tree by tree basis, and any custom stories you have written will be pictured, and you can create more stories for your ancestors.
