United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) is governed by two regulatory bodies namely NBME, FSMB and ECFGM. An unrestricted medical license is a mandatory credential that every student needs to have in order to practice medicine in the United States.  The holder of this occupational license is permitted to do anything that lies in the scope of his/her practice.

Each licensing authority has its own terms and conditions that need to be satisfied for a successful application. If you’re reflecting on the United States Medical Licensing Examination cost, you’re exactly in the right place.

This article will precisely cover the costing aspect of usmle.

How Much Does USMLE Cost?

The application depends on the licensing body. Whether you’re applying through NBME or ECFGM, in either case the fee is not cheap.

Application Fee

Students/graduates coming from AOA or LCME accredited medical schools in the US or Canada, need to apply through NBME. They are expected to pay:

  • $645 – each for step 1 and step 2 CK
  • $1300 - for step 2 CS
  • $875 - for step 3

However, students/graduates from medical schools outside the US register through ECFGM. Their fee structure is a bit different.

  • $940 – each for step 1 and step 2 CK
  • $1580 – for step 2 CS
  • $875 – for step 3

It’s noteworthy that candidates can appear for step 3 if and only they’ve cleared step 1 and 2. Interestingly, step 1 and 2 (both CK and CS) can be attempted in any order you like.

Looking For A Medical Instructor?

If we keep exam costing aside, the other major question that catches the attention of every other student is where to prepare from? Will any online resource be useful for me?

I’ve often heard great reviews regarding Dr. Najeeb’s medical resource. Keeping in view that students have to pay a handsome amount for usmle registration and application, Dr. Najeeb offers his online course on usmle step 1 that’s easy on his students’ pockets. With him, you do not have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to prepare for the exam. It’s all your choice which subscription you want to choose – monthly, biannual, or lifetime.

This thoughtful initiative by Dr.Najeeb has given millions of medical students a chance to prepare well for the step 1 exam.
