There are a number of ways to spot potential windows of time for career advancement in the future when considering predictive Astrology and the natal chart of a person who is very driven and focussed on their work. Looking at transits to career houses is one and here I will outline some of these.
The 10th House
The 10th house is the career house of the natal chart so it makes sense that any planet moving through this house via transit will potentially show up in a person’s life as a career prospect or opportunity of some sort relating to the career. The 10th house is also about the status we have with the rest of the world so this also rules changes and updates to any job titles, public roles and names (such as a BSc when graduating from university, or a doctorate achievement).
The Moon will move through the 10th house in a matter of days so will indicate general day-to-day career fluctuations here, whereas a planet such as Jupiter transiting through your 10th house can very likely indicate opportunities for growth and expansion in these areas and this period of time can last up to a year or possibly more, depending on where the house boundaries lie.
When Uranus moves through the 10th house we can expect some changes that may feel swift, causing us to readjust our approaches to our careers and our perceptions of them. Uranus also calls on us to change our work when we are not happy, so that we can express ourselves through our public career lives more creatively and from a genuine place. Uranus will take as much as 6 years or more to move through a house.
The 6th House
The 6th house is the house of work, duty and services as they are translated to daily life and especially the day-to-day running of the workplace or a business, so this house is especially important when looking at what is actually happening from an immediate stand-point and what this means to the native. For example, a nurse might spend much of their day tending to and caring for patients whereas an army officer will spend days out on the field doing work that is mainly kinaesthetic while pushing others to do the same.
The 6th house is also the house of service and traditionally, Mars is a planet who is comfortable in this house, despite being Astrology’s lesser malefic. Mars through the 6th house will normally indicate periods of increased productivity in the workplace, with some extra doses of enthusiasm and Mars typically stays here for a month or two.
Mercury traditionally rules the 6th house so is typically beneficial here when direct in motion and this period of time may favour the outcome of signed any contracts and written or legal documents.
When Saturn moves through the 6th house you can almost certainly expect to take on some extra responsibilities in the workplace, but this doesn’t always necessarily equate to greater income. If we see that Saturn will be transiting our 6th house at some time in the future, our job is to prepare for some hard work ahead and to make sure this hard work will be work that brings us a return on time investment either now or at some point in the future. Saturn brings long-term gifts and rewards so training and working towards qualifications are typical manifestations of Saturn through the 6th house. Saturn will typically spend over two years in one house of the natal chart.
The 2nd House
The 2nd house is the house of values and material possessions and this includes income and wealth, especially that which is earned through entrepreneurship and personal career ventures. The 2nd house is also indicative of the talents we may possess those which we can use to earn money from, as these are of great value to us, which is in resonance with the significations of the 2nd house.
With the Sun through our 2nd house, our income and our money are highlighted. We may be focussed on creating more income or our money may be the centre of our attention at this time.
Venus moving through our 2nd house can help us to increase our income, because Venus is a benefic planet with a tendency to bring gifts anywhere she moves. She also rules artistic and creative expressions so money made as a result of aesthetic or decorative ventures are very much favoured. The Sun typically takes a month to move through one of the houses and Venus can take longer, especially if she retrogrades.
When Pluto moves through the 2nd house, many changes become possible and some may be even beyond the control of the native. Income can greatly increase or it can fall, which will depend on the chart in question and the life and choices of the native up until this point. Pluto can have a tendency to make huge, sweeping changes that are long-lasting, but Pluto’s movement through the 2nd house will also present unique chances for the native to re-evaluate their approach to all material possessions and even take greater control in this area of life.
