The top-level management of any company became the global face of any brand. When it is a technology company then all the eyes are always on him, and his or her stand on developments is always valued. The senior leadership position of Google is facing turbulence. The reason behind it is still not completely cleared, but the reports are indicating that everything is not fine among the top leadership.

Google chief executive Sundar Pichai is reportedly facing a management challenge as part of his senior leadership has become turbulent. The New York Times reported Monday that current and former senior leaders had criticized the firm’s increasingly risk-averse style and more than 30 vice presidents stepped down in a year. The Times said this layer of leadership thought the firm had become much more bureaucratic.

“The lack of courage of Google with the problem of diversity eventually ended my passion for the job,” David Baker, a former director of engineering who worked at the company for 16 years, told The Times. “The more financially secure Google has escaped taking risks,” Pichai took over from Google co-founder Larry Page in 2015.

New York Times traces LinkedIn

The Times said it analyzed the LinkedIn profile update and found that 36 Google VP had left the company in the past 12 months, about one-tenth of such executives in the company. In a 2018 email, Pichai hired many VP. He argued that while the company was finding it difficult to move forward, technical decisions were not being in proper coordination.

There were many VP’s who praised Sundar, including Caesar Sengupta, who was Google’s VP for 15 years. There are other names on the list such as Aparna Chennapragada, who left Google for trading app Robinhood in April. Both of them praised Pichai’s decision.

In January, Google’s parent company Alphabet announced that it was going to close ‘Loons’ forever. Broadband can be made more accessible with the help of ‘Loons’. Meanwhile, the company closed down more projects. Google and its affiliates have also increased significantly. At the end of the first year as PICHAI’s CEO, Alphabet had 72,053 full-time employees. At the end of 2020, the number had increased to 135,301.

New Lock screen settings for Google Assistant

Google has created standalone preference webpages for several Assistant functions over the last few days. The most recent update includes Google Assistant settings for Android’s “Lock screen.”

Before the entire alphabetical list, the new “Lock screen” menu is categorized under “Popular Settings,” such as Voice Match, Languages, and Routines. When you initially launch Assistant, you’ll get a splash screen telling you how to use it “without unlocking your phone.”

When the phone is locked, you will get hands-free assistance from your Assistant. In the Assistant settings, you could just turn this off.

Turn on Voice Match and say “Hey Google” to have your Assistant identify your voice for personal details like calls and messages to the contacts.

Accepting the terms will enable “Assistant responses on the lock screen,” with the possibility to retrieve personalized results through a corner swipe or power button hold (on Android 12) as a backup option.

The Lock Screen feature under the Personalization menu, which was already very long, has been replaced with this new preferences page. The underlying technology isn’t fresh, and users are asked about this before the Assistant’s initial setup. It’s just more visible now and more likely to be seen.
