GUILD WARS 2: END OF DRAGONS Gets Tons of Awesome Reveals

Guild Wars 2, for those who've somehow missed it, is an extremely good MMO—the kind of game that has PCG's Phil licking his lips at thoughts of the dragon Mordremoth. Yeah, there's a lot of dragons around. But perhaps that's about to change in End of Dragons, which introduces new gameplay features and the region of Cantha—which is a new version of an area from an OG Guild Wars expansion, Factions. The team over at ArenaNet showed fans of Guild Wars 2 quite a bit of information regarding the upcoming third expansion, Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons. This included a full trailer and so much more. I cannot wait for February 2022 when the expansion is now set to release. Fans will be able to revisit the land of Cantha which is heavily inspired by Asian cultures and aesthetics and was first seen in Guild Wars Factions back in 2006. This is a fan-favorite part of the world and it's going to be awesome to see what Canthans have been doing the last 200 years. End of Dragons will feature an all-new story set in the mysterious island realm of Cantha, a multi-ethnic land of magic that is home to the oldest nation of humans in all of Tyria. First seen in 2006's Guild Wars Factions, this lush region dotted by islands and exotic architecture has been closed off and isolated from the rest of the world for over 200 years in the aftermath of The Jade Wind, a magical curse that petrified everything it touched and devastated the southeastern coastal regions. Canthan innovators have long sought practical applications for the material now known as "dragonjade," achieving solutions undreamed of elsewhere in the world thanks to this vast store of magical energy. But the dragon cycle that has sustained and blighted Tyria for ages is collapsing… Probably the addition to the game that I am most excited about is the new Siege Turtle mount. This will be the first multiplayer mount in the game, you raise what starts as this tiny and rather cute-looking turtle into a tank-sized reptile toting multiple laser cannons, and can then ride on its back in a little throne with your buddy and control bits of it in co-op. Your friend doesn't even have to have mounts unlocked to ride along. Other additions include Skiffs which are vehicles that let you go on the water and do things like the new activity which is fishing. Fishing won't be exclusive to Cantha though. There will be fishing all across Tyria after End of Dragons launches. There will also be new Elite Specializations with the first one shown off is the Virtuoso for Mesmers. More will be revealed in the lead up to several week-long betas that will happen August-November with the first one occurring on August 17. These beta events will be available to everyone who logs in. Just create a new character during the beta period to get access to the new Elite Specs. We also know that End of Dragons will update the engine of the game from DX9 to DX11 which has a lot of potential for improving the performance and graphics of the game on many modern computers.
