Although the Finucane's House is a year-round residence, this past October was the first time that the couple had invited anyone to come and clean their roof. When asked what makes their property special, Steve said that it has a terrace that overlooks Lake Washington. A resident of Tigard said that he feels fortunate because the weather in the area hasn't been too harsh. However, he knows that his property isn't in danger of being vandalized any time soon. "We've been blessed so far," he said. "But there's always next winter."

Both Steve and Kathy were glad that their roof wasn't on the lake, but they admitted that it could have been a good idea to cover it up a bit. Nevertheless, they admit that their roof is quite vulnerable to vandalism. "We've actually had vandals pull a brick over our heads on more than one occasion," Steve said. "So, obviously, we are a little vulnerable now, but we're pleased that it's only rocks and dirt."

Both Tigard and St. Helens have received favorable notices from the Washington State Office of Public Safety and Security. In fact, the office praised both properties for being well-protected against natural disasters and vandalism. State troopers assigned to the highway patrol noted that neither property was hit by an automobile last winter. Both homes were protected well against intrusion by persons wishing to cause vandalism or damage.

Both Steve and Kathy were glad that their roofs remained undamaged despite the windy weather. They also praised the roof cleaning service for its work in maintaining the integrity of their homes and their landscaping. They feel lucky to live in such an atmosphere where their roofs don't need to be protected against falling rocks, sticks, or anything else. They were, however, glad that their houses were spared from being destroyed by vandals.
