ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura) is an autoimmune disorder in which the blood loses its ability to clot naturally. A relatively low count of platelets can lead to easy or excessive bruising, bleeding gums and internal bleeding which results from the attack of the immune system to its own platelets. Platelets are one among the most important components of blood. These are tiny blood binding cells that possess a property of adhesion. This property helps them to rush to an injured site, adhere there and prevent the blood loss by ceasing the bleeding. It is not a life threatening condition at its acute stage but in the chronic condition it becomes difficult to manage the complications resulting from it.
