So when you come propose the City of Lights and Love to propose to your partner, one of your first decisions is your choice of location.
In fact, you can decide between "Eiffel Tower View" vs. "non-Eiffel Tower view," and then further narrow down your options by "location for rent/pay" vs. "free location/public access."
When you’re on a budget and want the most iconic backdrop possible, you need to look no further than Trocadero. Just make sure to plan a sunrise proposal unless you are ok with distracting (sometimes happily cheering) crowds.
We also like the Tuileries Gardens, which are both iconic and relatively private … and above all stunningly beautiful.
For the gentlemen (and Ladies) looking to do a private Paris proposal … you can optionally rent an awe-inspiring Parisian rooftop or a luxury hotel terrace. In addition, you can personalize her experience by hiring a gifted violinist (or even a duo, including a guitarist) to play your fiancée’s favorite song, and embellish the setting with flickering candles, a chilled Champagne, beautiful balloons, rose petals, love notes, and much more.
And of course, if you are already spending a pretty penny on the proposal setting, you might as well consider hiring a luxury car with driver. We are big fans of the Rolls-Royce Phantom or a Maybach if you can’t get your hands on a Rolls-Royce.
Say you feel a touch overwhelmed to plan and pull-off a spectacular surprise proposal from a faraway, then consider hiring a local planner who speaks French and can draw from a curated list of vetted vendors. Proposal planners come at a cost, but can actually save you money through their local relationships … and certainly take stress off your plate.
Now, keep in mind that it is not enough to simply buy a diamond engagement ring and drop down to your knee. That might rightfully be considered lazy. Hey, you only get engaged once and you might as well invest plenty of time, passion, and resources into making things divine for your soulmate.

So when you travel to the City of Love to propose to your partner, one of the first decisions you'll make is the location where you intend to pop the 4-word question. As you might imagine, there are romantic places, unexpected places, iconic places, pretty places …
Most of the time, your decision comes down to Eiffel Tower locations vs. non-Eiffel Tower locations. And then gentlemen (and ladies) further narrow their choices by “for rent†private spots vs. publicly accessible “free" spots.
Now, when you’re considering a truly unique place to propose in Paris (and have a solid proposal budget), then I’d recommend that you consider a Seine River Boat Proposal. The Seine River is affectionately coined “the most beautiful avenue in the world†and has been mentioned in countless films, ballads, and poems.
Yet, when it comes to pulling off a Seine River Boat Paris Proposal (without her noticing), it takes a little planning and coordination.
In general, I recommend hiring an experienced Paris proposal planner to organize the proposal for you (notably if you do not speak French or simply don't have the time to deal with unresponsive vendors on a different time zone).
