So when you travel to the City of Love to propose to your partner, one of the first decisions you'll make is the location where you intend to pop the 4-word question. As you might imagine, there are romantic places, unexpected places, iconic places, pretty places …
Most of the time, your decision comes down to Eiffel Tower locations vs. non-Eiffel Tower locations. And then gentlemen (and ladies) further narrow their choices by “for rent” private spots vs. publicly accessible “free" spots.
Now, when you’re considering a truly unique place to propose in Paris (and have a solid proposal budget), then I’d recommend that you consider a Seine River Boat Proposal. The Seine River is affectionately coined “the most beautiful avenue in the world” and has been mentioned in countless films, ballads, and poems.
In other words, a Seine River Boat Proposal is at once unique, pretty, private, and completely unexpected.
Yet, when it comes to pulling off a Seine River Boat Paris Proposal (without her noticing), it takes a little planning and coordination.
In general, I recommend hiring an experienced Paris proposal planner to organize the proposal for you (notably if you do not speak French or simply don't have the time to deal with unresponsive vendors on a different time zone).
However, whether you hire a proposal planner or do it yourself, you'll need to figure out where you and your partner will initially board the boat.
Keep in mind that she cannot know about your intentions as she accesses the boat (i.e., on most boats, nothing will be set up for yet in terms of rose petals, Champagne, and other surprise elements). Also, typically no vendors (such as your Paris Photographer, videographer or a violinist) would be on board yet when you both get on the boat.
All to say, you need to coordinate with the captain a second docking spot (and exact time!) where the boat can briefly stop while a meal is being served in the interior of the boat. In that moment, your entire vendor team will quickly and quietly hop on board to install the design décor and get ready.
Finally, the captain will stop the boat at an agreed-upon spot (normally with an Eiffel Tower view) … which is when you will bring your girlfriend out on the deck and make her your fiancée.
