Menopause - not a disease

The menopausal transition is a natural component of women's ageing. The termination of a woman's menstrual periods is known as menopause. Any of the changes you go through immediately before or after your period stops, signaling the end of your reproductive years, are referred to as menopause. It's not a medical issue. Between the ages of 40 and 58, menopause normally begins. All of a woman's eggs are kept in her ovaries when she is born. Their ovaries also produce the hormones oestrogen and progesterone, which regulate their menstrual cycle and egg production (ovulation). Menopause occurs when the ovaries stop producing an egg each month and menstruation ceases. -Perimenopause is the first of three phases in the menopause process. This stage normally starts a few years before menopause, when your ovaries begin to produce less oestrogen. Perimenopause lasts until menopause, when your ovaries cease to produce eggs. Oestrogen levels diminish quicker in the latter 1 to 2 years of this period. Menopause symptoms affect a large number of women. -Menopause. This is when you haven't had a period in a year. Your ovaries have ceased to produce eggs and the majority of oestrogen. -Post menopause- the years following menopause are known as the postmenopausal years. Hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms generally subside. However, as you get older, the health concerns associated with oestrogen deficiency rise. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which restores missing hormones, is the most common treatment for menopausal symptoms. Low oestrogen levels cause the majority of symptoms, thus this is the most critical hormone to replenish, while alternative therapies are available for different problems. Most menopausal symptoms, including hot flushes, cognitive fog, joint problems, mood swings, and vaginal dryness, can be alleviated with HRT. It can also help prevent bone weakening, which can result in fractures (osteoporosis). After menopause, osteoporosis becomes increasingly frequent. In certain women, some kinds of HRT may raise their risk of breast cancer and blood clots. You should consult a doctor or nurse to see if you have any risk factors. If you're having hot flashes and night sweats as a result of menopause, try these medications: -Clonidine, a blood pressure medication; -Gabapentin, a seizure medication that has been demonstrated to help with hot flashes. Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) is a treatment for women who have reached menopause. Attempt to minimize your stress levels by wearing light clothes, keeping your bedroom cool at night, taking a cool shower, utilizing a fan, or having a cold drink. Around the time of menopause, some women experience mood swings, poor mood, and anxiety. Your GP can prescribe an oestrogen therapy that is placed directly into your vagina as a pessary, cream, or vaginal ring if your vagina becomes dry, uncomfortable, or itchy as a result of the menopause. Around the time of menopause, it's usual for women to lose interest in sex, although HRT can frequently assist. Because of the reduced amount of oestrogen in the body, women who have gone through menopause are more likely to develop weak bones that shatter more readily.
