An instant pot is a kitchen appliance that is used by millions of people because of its versatility and ease of use. You have probably seen it advertised in cooking blogs, home magazines, and other media channels. It is a newcomer in the class of counter top cookers that includes the slow cooker (like a Crock-Pot), pressure cooker, steamer, etc. So, what is an instant pot and how does it work? It is basically a cooker that uses programmed settings to cook food at high pressure. The pot itself has an outer layer where the cooking mechanisms and controls are, and an inner layer where the ingredients are cooked. A tight lid seals in the food. As heat and steam quickly build up and start cooking the food, sensors on the pot control the cooking temperature and releases steam and pressure as needed. The cooking stops when the program is done. You can program it for multiple types of cooking. It can do what your other counter-top cookers can do through a selection of one of its many preset programs. A lot of people find that they no longer have to use different small appliances for different types of cooking because the instant pot can cook practically anything. The other thing that people like about this is that it only uses a fraction of the cooking time needed by traditional appliances. So, instead of waiting six hours for your chili to cook in your slow cooker, you can cook it in your instant pot in about an hour. What the instant pot can do depends on the programs available on the model. It can keep your food warm, slow cook, boil, simmer, pressure cook, sear, saute, and more. You can program the length of the cooking time so your dish will come out perfect. Some of the higher-end models even have settings to cook eggs, bake a cake, and even to sterilize things like your utensils or baby bottles. It comes in a wide variety of sizes and models. Whether you have a large family or just one or two people, there is an ideal pot size. If you are concerned that you would need to stay around the house to monitor the cooking time, some fancier models even has Bluetooth capability so you can control your cooker with your device. Do you tend to forget to thaw out your meat ahead of time before you need to cook it? With other cooking appliances, you typically would not have time to thaw the meat and cook it the same day. However, because the instant pot is so powerful, it can defrost your meat quickly, then cook it. You won't need to change your dinner plans. The cooking process helps food retain its nutrients because it won't overcook your food. The old-style pressure cooker builds up a tremendous amount of pressure inside the pot during the cooking process, thus easily overcooking the food if you are not careful. However, the instant pot has self-regulating features that allow just the right amount of steam to escape so the internal temperature is always at the optimum for the type of cooking you select. These features make the instant pot a very popular appliance for people who want to save effort and time when they cook. For more information visit instapots.net
