Changing password with times ensures your device’s security. Most people change their router’s password from time to time. This keeps their device secure as well as away from unnecessary connections. Some routers have a default password that you should change when you set it up for the first time. If you didn’t change your router’s password, anyone could get access to it without doing anything. You can easily change the password of your DLink router from the router’s configuration page. You need to log in to the configuration page in a browser then go to Wireless Settings menu and enter the new password you want to use. Using a computer linked with the Ethernet cable is best, as this will not lose connection like wireless devices. 1. Open a browser on your connected device. 2. Enter the address “192.168.0.1” into the top search field. Mostly DLink routers use this address. 3. If the address given in Step 2 won’t work, use “192.168.1.1”, it is the standard address for many routers. 4. Enter ‘http://dlinkrouter” into the address bar if none of the above address works. This is the hostname works in new routers. 5. If nothing works, find your router’s address using your computer. Router’s address can be easily found under “Network and Sharing Center” in Windows computer and Network section on Mac. To check your DLink router address in Windows PC: • Open ‘Start.’ • Open ‘Settings’. • Right click on the ‘Network’ icon. • And select ‘Open Network and Sharing Center.’ • Select the ‘Connections’ link to the active connection from the top of the screen. • Click on Details. It is the common username used for DLink routers. 2. Do not enter anything in the password box. Most of the DLink routers don’t have any password. 3. If it fails to log in with a blank password, try using ‘admin’ as password and proceed. 4. If both “blank” and “admin” password do not allow you to log in, find the login information of your router’s model. You need to go to ‘www.routerpasswords.com’ > choose ‘DLink’ from the options > then find and select your router model from the list. You’ll see login username as well as password. Use this login information to sign in to your router. 5.
