As a college student, you’ll want to try out every tool possible to keep up with all of the work assigned during the term. It’s very easy to get stressed out and start losing control of your duties, but we believe it’s actually easier to learn to keep your assignments and deadlines in order. How, you ask? Homework calendars are not just for little kids. They’re one of the most valuable items you can buy before school starts; keeping track of every appointment, exam and homework you have. If you want to learn some tips to use it correctly keep reading.

Don’t cram it

Even though the purpose of a homework calendar is to keep track of all your pending tasks so that you become a better student, it’s still important that you leave some much needed open spaces. You might be tempted to fill in every hour but remember some things might be more time consuming than others, and you also need to maintain even a little social life or “me time”. Asides from setting some time apart for yourself you can recur to hundreds of tools to finish your homework faster, but we’ll get into that later.

Put big deadlines first

One the school year starts, some or most teachers provide the “big” deadlines: important papers, researchs, essays and exams. It’s important that, the moment you know these deadlines, you include them in your homework calendar. From there you can fill smaller assignments as they come, but you know that some big work is coming up and you can start preparing with time. There are going to be several homeworks through your term that involve looking up textbook answers and doing little papers, all of them aren’t less important but they definitely don’t compare to finals.

Schedule studying sessions

A homework calendar is not only to make sure you don’t miss a single assignment; it can also be beneficial on your studying habits. Whenever you write down an exam date, you can start picking some hours daily a couple of weeks before to study. Preparing for an exam with time to spare can help you read more thoroughly through your notes and memorize things even better by studying a few topics at a time. You’ll get to your exam feeling more confident than you ever had!

Include useful sources

As we mentioned before, a homework calendar is more than just an agenda to write down deadlines and tasks. If you learn to use it correctly you can take advantage of many tools related to school. Whenever you find a useful resource to do your assignments you can write it down in here. It doesn’t matter if it’s an old book you saw at the library or a new academic platform with homework help; if it’s going to make you a better learner make sure you don’t miss the source!

It all comes down to your consistency. Don’t forget to bring it with yourself everywhere, that way you can write something down or check a date whenever you go.
