Whats an elimination period in insurance, particularly how might it work in dental insurance?

answers 0:I'm taking another jab at this for a good answer, prefer answers from insurance professionals but all answers welcome answers 1:An elimination period is like a time-period deductible...your coverage will not be in effect until after the elimination period ends. This prevents someone with no insurance who knows they have a cavity from getting dental insurance right before they have a dentists appointment...in insurnance lingo it prevents "moral hazard" or "adverse selection".... answers 2:It's probably a "waiting period" that applies to your major services on the dental plan. Elimination period usually refers to disability insurance. They are both actually "waiting periods", but the terminology is different. I hope this helps you.
