Although it may seem like we are writing about the obvious things here, in the fervor of packing we often take away what later turns out to be unnecessary, and leave behind what we really should take. Here's a look at what we personally think might help you prepare for your trip.
Thailand - pre-departure tips and advice:
• Check the current COVID restrictions. Prepare all necessary documents due to current restrictions.
• Photocopies of passports, insurance, and airline tickets. Be sure to have them in a different place from the originals. You can also scan them and send them to your email inbox so that you always have access to them. The information in them will save you a lot of stress in case you need to get a duplicate.
• Diving and some sports require separate insurance. Also, have your data saved somewhere other than your cell phone!
• Contact phones for the trip organizer, insurers, bank (blocking credit cards) family, and our mobile numbers - just in case.
• For a long trip, dress comfortably and airily. Jeans are not necessarily good. You will be sleeping in these clothes and landing in the tropics. Don't take any warm clothes you absolutely can't do without. In winter, just wear sneakers and warm socks instead of tall boots, and a fleece and thin jacket instead of a thick jacket. In your carry-on luggage, you need to have clothes to change into. You may be able to leave warm things with someone who drops you off and picks you up at the airport in the USA.
• In summer, even when it's hot, it's a good idea to have socks to sleep in.
• If you have sensitive skin then take face cream, you will spend the entire trip, both on planes and at airports in air-conditioned very dry air.
• Have a pen with you to fill out the arrival cards you get on the plane before landing.
• During the flight, stretch your bones from time to time and take a walk. A 12-hour flight is physically exhausting.
• Cosmetics are widely available here and are no more expensive than in the USA. The basic ones - are 24 hours a day in the chain of 7-11 stores, and others during the day in many stores. Medicines, including birth control pills, can be bought without a prescription at any pharmacy.
• Clothes are available locally and cheaper than in the country. You won't need much of them here, so why lug them around?
• Check your baggage allowance, not only for the main flight but also for local lines. Some local lines have a lower limit and you need to have cash prepared for excess baggage.
• Import ban: All types of drugs (marijuana, opium, cocaine, morphine, heroin). Pornographic writings, photographs, and objects. Fruits, vegetables, plants. You need a special permit to transport animals, obtainable at the airport. Vaccination documents are required.
• Import and export restrictions: One camera or camcorder per person, 200 cigarettes, or 250g of tobacco. 1 liter of alcohol. The penalty for exceeding the amount of alcohol or cigarettes imported is up to $800. Cash up to US$3,000 or equivalent without declaration, above but up to 10k proof of purchase or bank withdrawal confirmation is required and must be declared on the declaration.
• Prohibition of export: Beads other than in jewelry with proof of purchase. Without the required license - Buddha effigies or elements, antiques, gold, platinum stones. Works of art and reproductions require a license (Department of Fine Arts). Licenses are easy to acquire at the time of purchase, but you need to keep this in mind.

The most comfortable kayak seats are usually not those that are included in the kayak. Even if you’ve discovered the perfect kayak it’s likely that the seat will keep you searching for more. The best kayak seat must not just keep you comfy however, it should also allow you to feel secure as well as keep you dry and let you sit for hours without complaints either from your back or your body. If you’re lucky your arms will get tired way before your bum. Buying a new kayak seat would be the better option if none of this appeals to you.
