While the Indian Cricket Team has been doing exceptionally well, former Team India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has said that the team is operating like a ‘factory’ with plenty of talented youngsters who are ready to take up the job in the national team anytime. While speaking exclusively on Star Sports show Cricket Connected, he shared his views on this. “There was a time in international cricket when Australia used to field two teams, Australia and Australia A. I remember a tournament which was held in Australia and actually Australia were participating with two teams. So, India, with the depth of talent they have at the moment…It’s just a factory, the structure is so good. The IPL leaves a great foundation, first class set-up is absolutely fantastic. We have the quantity and we have the quality, so there are so many choices and at times, you feel envious of the amount of talent the team possesses, the bench strength,†he said.Sanjay Bangar also explained why the spinner Axar Patel, who recently made his debut in the longer format and made wonders as well, was not picked ahead of the all-rounder Krunal Pandya in the three-match ODI series against England. He said that Krunal Pandya deserves this after his stunning show in the recently-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy where he smashed two centuries and picked up regular wickets too. As far as Axar is concerned, he needs to be good for 50-over cricket too and the former coach believes that continuity is important for any player. He also said that the team has plenty of options available with them for every spot in the playing XI.After winning the four-match Test series 3-1 and then five-match Twenty20 International series 3-2, Team India secure a convincing 66 runs win in the first ODI. And, the host will try to register another win to clinch the ODI series as well.
