Heading up the St John Hotel kitchen is former St John sous chef Tom Harris who brings Henderson’s signature “Nose to Tail Eating†( putting every part of the animal to good use in the kitchen) into his divine British menu which has a strong focus on the seasons. You could be enjoying for example a delicious grilled squid with potatoes and artichoke; skate, bread and brown shrimp or pot roast short rib with celeriac and horseradish. Open from breakfast through to the early hours, the St John Hotel is just perfect for its central London location, making it a prime destination for a spot of pre theatre dining where the staff ensure that service runs smoothly and speedily so that you do not miss your show. Set to be equally as exciting as it older, Michelin starred sibling, St John Hotel is definitely one London restaurant to watch.
3. GORDON RAMSAY’S THE SAVOY GRILL

Fully restored back to its former glory and now forming part of the Gordon Ramsay restaurant empire, The Savoy Grill is a magnificent restaurant found inside the iconic Savoy Hotel in London. Perched along The Strand and steps from the bustling streets of Covent Garden, The Savoy Grill dates right back to 1889 and has always been an integral part of London’s dining scene. Designers The Russell Sage Studio have carefully and cleverly restored the dining room to bring it right back to its former Art Deco origins with stunning features including ornate chandeliers, wood panelling, mohair covered seating and beautiful antique mirrors. The kitchen at The Savoy Grill is headed up by Andy Cook under the guidance of Stuart Gillies, offering a menu inspired by classic dishes from both France and Britain. The selection of meats from the grill is outstanding with the likes of 180z Porterhouse steak; Herdwick mutton cutlets and Roe deer venison chops to name but a few. The carving trolley makes a big comeback here too, with The Lunch Trolley bringing a different offering to the table each day. Ramsay and his team have certainly produced yet another top class restaurant with the relaunch of The Savoy Grill and have returned an iconic dining room back to the capital.

Perched on the 32nd floor of the Centre Point building in London’s West End, Paramount is a superbly stylish and impressive restaurant and private member’s club. The restaurant itself is now open to the public and offers an exceptional dining experience in every way. The views over London are breath taking, particularly at night when the twinkling lights of the city create a real wow factor. Inside the dining room is a fabulously stylish space, designed by the renowned designer Tom Dixon, and has a real contemporary feel to it. Of course, the amazing views and cool design would count for nothing if the food wasn’t up to anything so its just as well that the cuisine on offer at Paramount is first class. The British style menu features an exciting array of dishes where starters include warm salad of quail, confit potato, green beans, walnuts and pancetta or double baked Roquefort soufflé with beetroot and aged balsamic followed by main courses like wild sea bass with potato gnocchi, samphire and caviar cream or saddle of rabbit, roast leg and confit shoulder, peas, carrots and grain mustard sauce. Round off with delectable desserts such as glazed lemon pudding with champagne and raspberry and pistachio sponge. Although Centre Point isn’t one of London’s favourite landmarks, Paramount is certainly one of its finer restaurants.
6. HOMAGE AT THE WALDORF

As you might expect, it is a prestige restaurant which has set itself very high standards in the preparation and service of Mediterranean cuisine, although the prices are surprisingly reasonable. Homage restaurant looks lovely and delivers a thoroughly satisfying meal for a price that won’t ruin you. Well worth a visit.
