Virtual Reality or VR boxes are enhancing mobile viewing experiences by the minute. They are cool add-ons to mobile phones that are revolutionizing mobile viewing. Thousands of users around the world have shifted to this immersive way of entertainment.
Are you thinking about buying a VR headset? Want to enjoy the heights and depths of videos and photographs on your phone? I will help you with it. While you are always free to buy a VR headset of your choice there are a few things that you should keep in mind.
Your phone's screen size should be bigger than your VR headset's viewing size.
The smartphone should have a Google Chrome 44+ browser for Android and Mobile Safari 8+ for iPhones.
The first step in calibrating your VR headset is to open the VR profile generator on your desktop browser and scan the QR code with your mobile phone. This will open the VR calibration scene on your phone, tap this to open in full screen.
Note: If you see a popup saying “Mobile device display properties unknownâ€. Then your mobile phone cannot be used.
When the calibration screen is displayed insert your mobile phone in the VR headset and enter the details on the viewer profile generator page on your desktop/laptop.
The detail to be entered are:
Company and Viewer names (This will act as an identifier for other users and flows in Google cardboard compatible apps.)
Primary Button Type (Magnet, Touch, Indirect touch, or None)
Screen to lens distance ( in millimeters)
Inter-lens distance (distance between both lenses in)
Screen vertical alignment (bottom, center or top)
Tray to lens-center distance (in millimeters)
Distortion coefficients (should not be left set to 0.00)
Once you have entered these details click on the ‘generate profile’ button and you will get the QR code for your VR headset.
VR headsets aren’t the only thing that uses QR codes. QR codes can be used to lead to a specific URL, share contact information, emails, direction to a specific location or SMS. Organizations are creating QR codes for marketing offers, landing pages, or product pdfs.
Every user has the option to download a PNG or SVG image. When sharing this QR code in digital media ensure that the QR profile size is not smaller than 74 x 74 px. If you are looking to print the QR code then the profile size should not be smaller than 0.6 x 0.6†/ 15 x 15 mm.
That's all, now all you have to do is scan this QR code using any Google cardboard compatible app and you can enter the world of Virtual Reality in a few minutes. Popular entertainment mediums such as Youtube, Netflix and Playstation are VR compatible and can be enjoyed to the fullest using a VR headset. The QR code you created can be used for all these apps.
