Polycystic kidney disease is a hereditary disease that you get from one of your parents. Due to this disease thousands of fluid-filled cysts build inside or around the kidneys that can increase the size of the kidneys. These cysts can build up in other organs of the body like the liver and ovary. But, by following and taking a renal diet plan and the right treatment, you can stop the formation of cysts, and live a disease-free life.
There are two methods to cure polycystic kidney disease – the first is Allopathic treatment, and the second one is polycystic kidney disease treatment in Ayurveda. There is no permanent solution in Allopathic medical science to prevent the formation of cysts. But, Ayurvedic science can reduce the formation of cysts and provides a long-lasting solution for PKD. Ayurvedic nephrologists use natural herbs and a renal diet plan to cure kidney patients. Yes, like the right treatment, a renal diet plan is also very important to give your body all essential nutrients in a sufficient amount.
In the blog underneath, you will get to know about polycystic kidney disease – diet recommendations.

Use salt, but very less –High blood pressure, both a sort of cause and symptom of kidney diseases. But, in PKD, high blood pressure is counted as a symptom that can be increased due to salt intake. High blood pressure or hypertension can harm or pressurize your already harmed kidneys. That is why it is very important to use salt, but very less. Instead of salt, you can use salt-free spices like pepper, cinnamon, and cumin, herbs like cilantro, and dill.

Urea nitrogen is a toxic outcome, that is formed when protein is broke down in your body. Your kidneys separate toxic materials like urea nitrogen from your kidneys and discharge through urine. BUN stands for Blood Urea and Nitrogen and the appearance of urea in a low amount in your blood is normal. If the BUN level rises, that means your kidneys are facing some dangerous problems, like filtering of toxic elements from their blood.
Many health conditions are there that can increase the BUN level in your blood. Some of the health conditions are:
Severe burns
A complete blockage of blood flow to your kidneys
Permanent heart failure
Uncontrolled diabetes
Dehydration
Shock
Gastrointestinal bleeding
Heart attack
Overconsumption of protein-rich diet
obesity
high cholesterol
The Above-mentioned are some of the causes that are responsible for the increases in BUN level. Kidney failure is also one of the major reasons for increasing the BUN level in your blood. Ayurveda can treat kidney diseases with the help of ayurvedic medicine without using any hazardous treatment.
How blood and nitrogen level is measured?
Your doctor may use this test for many reasons, including monitoring kidney and liver function. Your liver releases urea in your blood and it passes to your kidneys for excretion through the urine. Your doctor will most often advise a BUN test if you are suspected of kidney or liver disease. In this process, a blood sample was taken from the patient and is measured in the laboratory by a lab technician. Before taking a sample, your doctor may ask about the intake of any medicine that can increase blood urea nitrogen levels.
Some antibiotics like chloramphenicol or streptomycin may be responsible for reducing your BUN level, whereas some antibiotics can enhance the BUN level.
What is a normal BUN level?
If there is a high level or low BUN level, this fluctuation may indicate a wide range of health-related problems. Your kidneys and livers are responsible for most of the functioning of the organs of your body. If there is any problem occurs in your body, then it can be co-related with your liver and kidney functions. If your BUN level is abnormal, it indicates the impairment of your kidney’s and liver’s functionality.
Common measurement for BUN level is as follows:
For adults, up to 60 years of age is 6-20 mg/dL
For adults over 60 years of age is 8-23 mg/dL
The ideal range of BUN levels may vary from a person’s age and the reference age adopted by the specific laboratory. The high BUN level is usually found in kidney patients, but a low BUN level is not a normal condition in the kidney patients. Low BUN level can result from:
Liver failure
Over-hydration
Consuming low protein or avoiding protein-rich diet
Changes in BUN levels may occur during pregnancy and it also increases with age.
How Ayurveda treats the High BUN level naturally?
For the treatment of a high BUN level, the main causes should be treated first. Kidney disease is considered as the main reason for a high BUN level, then you should get the appropriate treatment to lower down your high BUN level. Most of us prefer allopathic treatment to lower down the high BUN level, but this treatment only manages symptoms of high blood urea nitrogen levels, without touching the roots of this disease. But Ayurveda treats high BUN level naturally, which guarantees the permanent remedy for high blood urea nitrogen level.
Allopathy treatment only eliminates the symptom for a temporary basis, but after sometimes, these symptoms may appear again. As a more reliable alternative, Ayurveda treats a high BUN level from its roots without any side-effects on any organ of your body. Some Ayurvedic herbs are very powerful in the treatment of high blood urea nitrogen level. Some natural herbs that are used for the therapy of any kidney disease include:
Punarnava: The name of this herb is made from two Sanskrit words; Puna, which means again and Nava, which means new. This herb is mostly used for reviving the functionality of your kidneys.
Varun: This herb is used for the breakdown of stones in your kidneys.
Gokshur: This herb helps your body in strengthening the weak kidney cells.
Ayurveda not only focuses on treating the illness, but it also focuses on maintaining the appropriate balance between mind, body, and soul. The best part of this treatment is that it is 100% safe and hazard-free. With the help of these herbs, Ayurveda treats a high BUN level naturally and gives satisfactory results to kidney patients.

Chronic kidney disease is a disease that has been in the human body for a long time, maybe right from birth. The symptoms are mild and barely recognizable at the initial stages. Don’t believe me? Think about this: Cold & Cold, Viral Fever or even the normal fever can be a symptom or sign of chronic kidney disease. Have you ever realized or thought of this way? I am sure you will be amazed to know this fact. The best chronic kidney disease treatment in Ayurveda. Ayurveda has the power to cure chronic kidney disease permanently of roots.
Here are the causes that can give birth to Chronic Kidney Diseases:
Inheritance: It is one of the major causes of CKD. If you have a family tendency of getting caught by kidney diseases then there are chances that you may also get affected by it. The most common Chronic Kidney Disease is Polycystic Kidney Disease; it is a disease that can be diagnosed either right after birth or even when in the womb. In this disease, small pouches of fluid develop on the surface of kidneys that grows in size with the growing time.
High blood pressure: High blood pressure can be a serious threat to the health of the kidneys. Not only when the blood the pressure is boosted but also the medications are taken to control the blood pressure. Sometimes the passing of blood from one organ to another gets obstructed and as a result, the pressure is boosted to transport the blood. Frequent changes in the blood pressure can affect the kidney’s functioning and these changes may start to damage the kidneys slowly.
Diabetes: Diabetes is one of the common causes of and reasons for kidney diseases. During diabetes, the formation of insulin is restricted that put an adverse effect on the kidney's functioning. Decreased amount of insulin affects the process of kidney’s filtration unit Glomeruli.
Cardiovascular problems: Kidneys filter the unpurified blood sent from the heart and transfer the purified blood back to the heart. But when the heart is not able to perform properly, it will show its effect in blood and body both. These changes in the body can affect the functioning of kidneys leading to the damage of the filtration units in kidneys.
People of 50 years and above: Our kidneys start to lose their efficiency with the growing age. By the time we reach 50 and above the Nephrons present in the kidneys weakens and may open the gates for diseases to enter.
How serious is kidney swelling?
To be honest, none of the kidney diseases should be taken lightly. Every disease and disorder related to the kidney is serious and the action of the treatment should be taken on an immediate basis. Hydronephrosis is a condition of kidneys where the kidneys’ size is enlarged because of fluid retention in the bladder.
The fluid retention can be because of the obstruction of passing urine from kidneys to bladder or when there is a need for urination but the urine is not passing out of the body. This can affect the functioning of kidneys with multiple disorders and infections.
Swelling in kidneys is just a symptom of dangerous kidney diseases that requires a spontaneous treatment or else you can get in a serious condition like:
Men with or above the age of 50 can get caught by prostate cancer.
If the urine is not passed out from the body of a pregnant woman, there are chances that this fluid retention can directly affect the progress of the fetus (unborn child).
Sexually active women are more prone to Urinary Tract Infections because of the swelling in kidneys.
People with kidney diseases can worsen the situation if the fluid is not passed from the body.
There are a few factors that are responsible for swelling in kidneys:
Renal infection (kidney and urinary systems infection).
The incapability of kidneys to pass on the waste fluid.
Kidney cancer.
People with a single kidney.
Chronic kidney diseases.
Stones in kidneys.
