Pressure washers are an extremely useful tool for keeping exteriors clean. They’re tough on caked-on dirt and grime, and can make most surfaces look like they’re new again. As useful as they are, though, it’s important to keep them maintained. Routine maintenance will keep your pressure washer from breaking down early. Your willingness and ability to perform routine maintenance is an important factor to keep in mind when you’re looking for a pressure washer for sale.
Do I Need to Perform Routine Maintenance on an Industrial Pressure Washer?
Both residential and commercial pressure washers need to undergo routine maintenance. A commercial washer likely needs to undergo routine maintenance more than a residential washer, since they tend to be expensive. With routine maintenance, you can prevent an industrial pressure washer from breaking down in the middle of a job, and it helps you to avoid expensive repairs. With routine maintenance, you can expect hundreds of hours of use out of your power washer.
What Do I Need to Do?
Routine maintenance is usually quick and easy, and rarely requires you to completely disassemble your entire power washer. The individual steps in the process shouldn’t take you more than five minutes to perform. Here’s what you need to do:
Check for Leaks
Before you even turn on your commercial pressure washer, check for fuel and oil leaks. Give the washer a once-over to see if you can detect any visible drips. If you don’t detect any drips, take a closer look at the fuel lines, the engine, and the underside of the pump. For small amounts of leakage, wipe away any visible fuel or oil and check for more leaks after every use. If more leaks are detected, your industrial pressure washer will need to go in for repairs. For water leaks, turn on the main’s water supply, and keep an eye out for leaks when the power washer is in use.
Check the Nozzle, Spray Gun, and Hose
Clean the nozzle of any visible debris, and clean with water if any debris or dirt is detected. Check the hose connection as well; if you see any cracks, or if the connection no longer holds the hose securely, you will need to replace the spray gun. This also applies if you see any cracks in the hose itself; if you see cracks, the hose will need to be replaced.
Keep Your Industrial Pressure Washer Clean and Well-Maintained
Maintenance is a key part of ensuring that your washer lasts through multiple uses. Parts should be replaced at the first sign of leaks or damages, and the washer itself should be kept clean. With a bit of care, you’ll be able to get the full value out of your power washer.
