On November 16, 2019, the subclass 494 visa was introduced, replacing the subclass 187 (RSMS). It is a regional employer-sponsored visa that allows Australian employers to nominate skilled foreign workers. A total of 9,000 places have been allocated to the 494 visa pathway. Since it’s a provisional visa, it does not grant the visa holder immediate permanent residency in Australia. For PR, the visa holder must apply for a subclass 191 skilled regional visa.
The subclass 494 visa allows businesses in regional Australia to actively nominate highly skilled foreign professionals for job vacancies for which no local talent is available.
Reasons to apply for subclass 494 visa
• Stay in the designated regional area of Australia for up to five years
• Apply for permanent residency after three years
• Include your family members in the application
• Access to social care and healthcare benefits
• Priority processing
• Have access to more occupations compared to non-regional pathways
Eligibility Requirements
You can migrate to Australia under subclass 494 visa, if you are:
• Under 45 years of age
• have a valid job offer from an Australian employer
• The job offered to you is a full-time position that is likely to last for at least five years
• Meet health and character requirements
• Satisfy all nomination criteria
• Demonstrate complete English language skills
How subclass 494 visa leads to permanent residency in Australia?
The subclass 494 is only valid for five years. However, holders can access apply for PR through the subclass 191 visa.
To be eligible for the subclass 191 visa, the holder must:
• Must have lived, worked and studied in a designated regional area in Australia on subclass 494 visa.
• have lived for at least 3 years in a designated regional area
• Show earnings of at least $53,900 annually for three years.
• have had a taxable income at or above a specific income threshold for at least three years while holding your eligible visa
• both primary and secondary applicants have complied with the conditions of the eligible visa you hold or have held
Please note that you do not need a sponsorship from an employer to make an application under subclass 191 Australia visa.

The fees for an Australian visa is regularly updates. Also, the fees for different visa categories varies. The fees also increases depending on the number of people included in the application. It also depends on the date that the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) receives the visa application. If the Australia PR visa fees increases between the date of lodging the application and the date the DHA receives it, the candidate has to pay the new fees. In some cases, the application fees may not apply..

If you are planning to apply for a Canada PR visa, then this article is just for you. As per Canada’s new immigration plan, the country is all set to welcome 401, 000 new permanent residents in 2021. The historic target was announced on Oct 30 by Canada’s Minister of Immigration Marco Mendicino.
The immigration plan is created to support Canada’s economic recovery post Covid-19 by attracting more talented skilled workers across the world.
The immigration target for the next three years are aligned with the previous years’ target. The target is generally set at 1% of the population of the country.
What’s surprising is the total number of newcomers that Canada plans to welcome over the next three years. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, Canada had to put many immigration and international travel restrictions to curb the spread of the virus. Now, the country wants to compensate that deficit in the coming years, resulting in record-breaking immigration targets.
For the next three years Canada will welcome:
2021: 401,000 new permanent residents
2022: 411,000 new permanent residents
2023: 421,000 new permanent residents
So, Canada immigration applicants need to get enough CRS points to keep them going in the race. Earlier the plan was devised before the pandemic hit Canada, which planned to welcome 351,000 newcomers in 2021 and 361,000 in 2022.
With the increased number of immigration targets, it is possible to say that express entry will accept more permanent residents’ application in 2021 and in the coming years.
It is estimated that Canada will only reach 70% of its immigration target of welcoming 3, 40, 000 permanent residents in 2020. Because of the travel restrictions, lockdowns, and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Canada could not touch its immigration target. The country also made some changes to its Canada PR visa fees in this year.
This shortfall is a major concern for a country like Canada that depends extensively on immigration to fuel its economy.
“Immigration is essential to getting us through the pandemic, but also to our short-term economic recovery and our long-term economic growth. Canadians have seen how newcomers are playing an outsized role in our hospitals and care homes, and helping us to keep food on the table. As we look to recovery, newcomers create jobs not just by giving our businesses the skills they need to thrive, but also by starting businesses themselves. Our plan will help to address some of our most acute labour shortages and to grow our population to keep Canada competitive on the world stage.â€
– The Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino, P.C., M.P., Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship

Alberta – specifically Calgary – is a favorite destination among immigrants due to the wide range of job offers, affordable real estate and comparatively low cost of living. Foreign workers who have the skills required by the labor market of Alberta can be nominated for permanent residence by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program. There are two sub-categories or ‘streams’ under this Canada PNP Program for skilled workers who wish to permanently live and work in Alberta.
Alberta Opportunity Stream
For foreign workers who are currently residing and working in Alberta on a temporary basis, and have been offered a full-time job in an eligible occupation by an employer in Alberta. Applications under this stream require a Labor Market Impact Assessment. To qualify for this stream of the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program, candidates also have to meet other eligibility criteria related to the type of work permit they hold, their occupation, language skills, academic background, work experience in Alberta and job offer validity.
Alberta Express Entry Stream
Though this stream, the AINP nominates qualified candidates from the federal Express Entry pool i.e. those who have submitted a valid Expression of Interest to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Those who have a strong connection to Alberta or the potential to support Alberta’s economic development and diversification – and have scored at least 300 Canada PR points based on the CRS selection actors – may be issued Notifications of Interest, inviting them to apply for this stream. Only the most eligibility candidates are nominated.
To find out which occupations are most in-demand in Alberta, and understand the stream-specific eligibility criteria and application process for this Canada PNP Program, obtain the guidance and support of India’s most seasoned immigration consultants – at Visa Experts – by booking a digital counselling session or visiting the company’s well-located offices across India.

Western Australia (WA), specifically the metropolitan area of Perth, is a very immigrant-friendly place – due to the variety of job opportunities (especially in the tech sector), affordable housing, low cost of living, excellent education system, and scenic landscapes. Immigrants generally pursue Western Australia migration by opting for the state nomination route.
The WA government nominates suitable foreign skilled workers, who can meet local labor market requirements, for permanent residence under the Subclass 190 visa or provisional (5-year) residence under the Subclass 491 Visa. Provisional residence means that after three years of living and working in a regional area of WA, the holder of a 491 Visa WA can apply for permanent residence.
In order to be nominated for either of these visas, candidates must meet the following requirements:
• Fulfill the visa eligibility requirements of the federal immigration authority – the Department of Home Affairs
• Score at least 65 points based on age, English proficiency, education, work experience, adaptability, partner skills/single status, and nomination. Being nominated for the WA 190 visa adds 5 points to the candidate’s score, while being nominated/sponsored for the 491 visa adds 15 points.
• Have at least competent or proficient English language skills – depending on the occupation.
• Practice an occupation that features on the relevant SOL List Australia – the Western Australia Skilled Migration Occupation List. This is known as the nominated occupation.
• Have at least 3 years of work experience outside Australia or at least 1 year of work experience within Australia, within the past ten years, in the nominated occupation or a closely related occupation.
• Have a full-time job offer of at least 12 months (in the nominated/closely-related occupation) from a WA employer.
• Have enough funds to cover the cost of living and settling in Australia for at least three months – AUD $20,000 for a single person, AUD $30,000 for a couple, and additional AUD $5,000 for each accompanying dependent.
Not all candidates who meet this criteria are nominated. Only the most highly-qualified candidates receive a nomination from Western Australia Migration Services. Once nominated, they must apply for the visa to the DHA. For support and guidance at every stage of this process, contact the experienced consultants at Visa Experts – who assess your eligibility, and help you lawfully relocate to Australia.

The Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190) allows foreign skilled workers who have been nominated by an Australian state or territory – based on their ability to fill skills shortages in the local labor market – to permanently live and work in Australia. New South Wales (NSW), specifically its capital city of Sydney, is a major immigration hub. Many foreign nationals immigrate to this state – with their families – by applying for the 190 Visa NSW.
Eligibility Requirements
• Be under 45 years of age at the time of being invited to apply for nomination.
• Score at least 65 points based on the selection criteria of the federal immigration authority – the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).

As of October 2020, NSW is only welcoming applications for NSW state sponsorship 491 and 190 from skilled workers who are engaged in specific IT, health and engineering occupations, and are currently living in the state.
• Have at least competent English language skills.
• Commit to living and working in NSW for at least the first two years after arrival.
• Meet DHA’s health and character requirements.
Australia PR Process for NSW State Nomination under Subclass 190
Step 1: Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) in Skillselect – DHA’s online application selection system – mentioning an interest in moving to NSW.
Step 2: The NSW state government ranks EOIs based on the candidate’s point score, English language skills and work experience. Highest-ranking candidates receive invitations to apply for nomination from the NSW state government.
Step 3: Within 14 days of receiving the invitation, the candidate must submit a complete application and supporting documents to NSW. If approved, NSW will issue a state nomination.
Step 4: Once nominated, 5 points will be added to the candidate’s point score, and they will be invited to apply for the Subclass 190 visa to DHA. If this application is approved, the DHA will grant permanent residence.
Due to its diverse immigrant communities, rewarding job opportunities, and high standard of living, NSW receives a significant number of visa applications from hopeful immigrants every year. For those who plan to migrate to Canada must know that Canada invites the migrants based on their merits and these are decided through the points that a candidate obtains. These points can be estimated through Canada PR Eligibility Calculator. These calculators are easily available on numerous websites and on Canada’s immigration website too that would take the necessary information to give you an estimated idea of your points. Through this, you can determine your chances of being able to migrate to Canada.
The Express Entry system of Canada manages the applications of thousands of candidates at a time who are interested in migrating to Canada claiming that they have the skills and merit that are desirable in Canada. Through this system, the candidates are shortlisted for permanent residence in Canada through a cut-off score. This score is popularly known as the CRS score (Comprehensive Ranking System Score).
With the times, these scores are going higher and the prospective immigrants look out for options in order to increase these scores. For this, taking advice from an immigration consultant could be the best option.
The idea behind the Canada point system is ensure that the immigrants are given the opportunity to reside permanently in Canada based on their skills and merits, and there is an absolutely unbiased system in place. The points are assigned taking into account the factors such as age, educational qualifications, work experience in an occupation that is in demand in Canada, language proficiency and other human capital factors. This may include previous Canadian Experience such as education or work experience, spousal credentials etc. All these factors are neutral in nature and does no injustice while selecting the desirable candidates. Higher the CRS score, better and quicker are the chances for Canadian permanent residence.
Based on your skills, you can determine a suggestive score using Canada PR Eligibility Calculator. Just enter the information which is true and can be backed with supportive documents regarding your education and work experience. A score will be displayed taking into account your eligibility factors and based on that you can determine how much more you need to score to pass the CRS score cut-off or if you are already meeting the desirable scores. Rather than speculating the chances by yourself, you can also consult a veteran immigration consultant who would give you the genuine advice on your chances and the ways to boost your score for obtaining your Canada PR successfully.
