The purpose of the physical is to determine whether a child or teen is healthy enough to play a sport safely. The healthcare checkup resembles a well-kid visit.
👉 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐚 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥?
A preparticipation physical evaluation (PPE) evaluates the general health of a patient to provide written approval for participation in a sport or activity.
👉 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐀 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞?
The appointment typically includes a standard examination of health.
✅ Check blood pressure and pulse
✅ Evaluate joints and limbs for mobility, strength, and flexibility
✅ Record height and weight
✅ Check vision
✅ Examine ears, nose, and throat
✅ Discuss diet and healthy habits

A sports physical isn’t about passing or failing. Instead, it’s about managing your child’s health. If the healthcare provider identifies an issue that could make sports unsafe for your child, they will likely include follow-up action.

If your child has a health condition that impacts their performance or makes them more susceptible to injury, that could hurt them more in the long run. The goal of the appointment is to simply understand your child’s health.

Expert Strep Throat Treatment for Patients in Castle Rock
17 views
We provide testing, diagnosis, and treatment for strep throat at our Castle Rock urgent care clinic. Avoid the long waits at the emergency room. Instead, get the proven care you need faster and at a more affordable cost.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗮𝘁?
Strep throat is a bacterial infection caused by Group A Streptococcus.
Viruses or symptoms from seasonal allergies cause most sore throats. In these cases, the sore throat typically doesn’t require professional medical care.

Strep throat requires treatment to heal the infection and relieve pain.
A simple throat swab test detects strep. The back of the throat is swabbed then the swab is tested for the presence of Group A Strep. A rapid test provides quick, in-office results. If the rapid test is negative but the symptoms point to strep, a lab culture test can offer a more accurate result.
Antibiotics treat strep throat. Once prescribed and taken, the symptoms resolve quickly for most patients.

Professional Diagnosis and Care for Arthritis
Arthritis refers to pain, stiffness or disease in the joints. Often, the term arthritis is a catch-all for pain occurring in the joints. Patients of all ages can experience arthritis symptoms tied to specific types of arthritis. However, the condition appears more frequently in older patients with symptoms worsening as patients age.
𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬?
✅ Obesity and excess body weight
✅ Infection
✅ Joint injuries
✅ Repetitive joint use, like with a job or sport that requires repetitive motion
✅ Smoking tobacco
✅ Aging
✅ Specific genes
Managing modifiable risks factors, like smoking or obesity, can help reduce the occurrence or severity of arthritis symptoms.
𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬
Finding an accurate diagnosis for arthritis begins with a physical examination of the impacted joints. From there, lab tests may help narrow the type of arthritis and confirm the diagnosis. Blood, joint fluid and urine tests aid in diagnosis.
Imaging also provides valuable information, including bone loss, damage or spurs. CT scans, MRIs and ultrasound help achieve an accurate diagnosis and track disease progression.
Different treatment options help address pain and joint function based on the specific type of arthritis. Over-the-counter or prescription pain medications help with pain management. Oral and topical NSAIDs help with both pain and inflammation. Your doctor may recommend or prescribe other medications as needed to manage both pain and function.
Some patients find physical therapy helps to increase the range of motion and strengthen the joints. Other treatment options include surgery and lifestyle changes.
We work with each patient to develop the best treatment plan for your specific condition and symptoms.
