Like your home, the elevator also needs to be clean and disinfected weekly or daily. Many people use the office elevator in a day, so it needs to be disinfected and clean properly. If you regularly use the same elevator, then there might be a chance that you get infected or develop a disease.
Bacteria on the office and commercial elevator is 40% more than a public toilet seat. We may be only in an elevator for a few seconds, but when we touch the call button, bacteria get transferred and cause illness. The better way to prevent any bacteria and germs is to clean and disinfect the elevator thoroughly.
Tips for Cleaning your Office Elevator
If 5-10 people use your office elevator, then general cleaning agents used in your home can be used in cleaning elevators. If more than ten people use your elevator, it's better to contact the elevator company for more guidelines and then start cleaning your elevator.
Use Proper Cleaning Agents
You can use polishes, dusting soaps, and disinfectants to clean the surfaces of the office elevator. Keep on dusting regularly so dirt won't accumulate on the surface of button panels or handles. Some offices have simple elevators like a child hospital or a therapist, and these elevators require deep cleansing. While other offices designed elevators according to their needs like dental offices have an elevator according to their dental office design. they don’t require a deep and daily cleaning.
Disinfecting
Cleaning and disinfecting are different processes. In cleaning, you require soap or detergent to wash the surface with water to remove germs. But disinfecting uses a chemical to remove germs. Disinfecting a surface won't remove impurities, so you have to clean and disinfect the exterior to eradicate all kinds of contamination.
First, you have to shut down the elevator to avoid any inconvenience to clean and disinfect properly. Then start dusting the door, walls, and button panel with a piece of cloth. Â Now use soap or any cleaning agent and remove all the dirt and germs around the elevator.
To use the proper amount of soap or deterging agent, contact the elevator manufacturer and take his advice. Use their given user manual and use safe products. Take care while cleaning the electrical areas of the office elevator.
