I realized that McCamon was my author in March, when I listened to the audio book "Usher's Passing." And the novel "Boy's Life " only rooted my desire to read the full authers bibliography. McCamon is often compared to King. Not only because of the themes in the books and similar plots, but also for the closeness of views and atmosphere. The book unfolds in America in the 60's, describing the small town Zephyr, Alabama. Young Corey McKenson helps his father deliver milk to customers early in the morning. Suddenly they become witnesses of a car accident. So Cory begins to investigate this murder. I love this book! This is really the life of a boy, because the author tells us not only the main arc with the investigation, but also each chapter is saturated with events, both mystical and ordinary boy's joys and experiences. Cory will lose his bike and earn even better, face a horrible lake monster, spend the night in the woods and see dangerous things. He falls in love. Will take part in the fight. Lose a friend and find a new one. So many moments I liked in this book! Sometimes I laughed out loud, sometimes I just enjoyed reading McCamon's descriptions. And in some places she was openly crying. There are many strong points in the book, and to tell you about everything you have to spoil the whole book. I can not praise the uniquely transmitted atmosphere of a sleepy town, surrounded by nature. Honestly, I was happy to visit Zephyr and would spend the summer there.
